Drove from London to Portsmouth, dipped get toes in the sea, hooked up a speedoat and drove to Kilmarnock. The gearbox actually deemed to get smoother on the way.

Apart from the trailer lights going out, she held up beautifully.
 
Just sorn'd her felt life is just too busy at the min and I'm not using her so might as well. I've got a few jobs I'll get done before she is back on the road nothing major just a spot of painting
 
Just back from a quick trip.
Perth, Skye, Berwick & lake district.
1,455 miles in five days.
Didn't miss a beat.
 
Viscous fan changed, cleaned the engine bay, and put a new heat shield on, for no other reason than it was bothering me that it wasn't there

Fitted the side steps nightmare them rivnuts fitted 2 new wing mirror glass as old ones weren't heating
 
Fired up the engine for the first time in a few weeks, having done a bit of leak repair and preventative maintenance in time for winter:

New power steering pipes
New oil cooler pipes and oil cooler
New transmission fluid pipes and cooler
Transmission filter and gasket
Painted outside of transmission sump with POR15

Always nice when it starts first time after a while parked up in the garage :) Will take it out for an actual drive tomorrow.
 
Found out the company who recovered it to my home last weekend have broken the steering. I knew something wasn't right when they dropped it off, but didn't have the time to investigate it. Had a proper look today. Not good. 12072673_10153583615931007_3712986360378122658_n.jpg

Looks liked the tied it down with the track rod. A bit naughty that.

Aye, right side is completely lunched. There has been metal on metal contact with the alloys too. A lot of damage. Lodged a complaint with the breakdown company. They are investigating. If they come back with any reply that isn't "sorry we broke it, we'll pay to fix it" I am kicking off.
 
I think a lot of recovery drivers are meat heads and don't know how to take care of the vehicles they are recovering. When I had my P38 recovered when the hose split the AA man was also a P38 owner and treated mine with kids gloves, was well impressed.
 
The guy thought because the immobiliser wouldn't turn off you couldn't select neutral or take off the steering lock. Neutral I get, as you can't take my Merc out of park without the engine running maybe he assumed it was more advanced gearbox than it really is, but a mechanic steering lock... I damn near **** a brick when I saw him dragging her in park. But as they gave me a courtesy car to get home so they could relay it over 2 days, I didn't seem them load her up. I can only imagine how messy that scene was.

Fuse F11 always works.
