engine aside, theres no real way a lifter could 'pump up' and cause the valve to stay open, unless it didn't close before the cam came round againJust thinking it through ... M51 has hydraulic tappets. Could anything cause the lifter to stay ever so slightly protruded? That might make a dinging noise but you might just get away with a nee valve and maybe a flush / new spring / whatever to get the tappet working properly again? Or am I way off piste?
Need @wammers know how!
No thanks. Been there. Done that. Lucky escape mate.Ring him up and pretend to be someone else and go see it
I dare yoooouuuuu......
That's what i think too buddy as he has only had it back 2 weeks and that is not enough time for a full engine rebuild IMHOP.Sounds like hes just slapped a second hand lump in it
Unless its jumped a cog on the chain and thrown it out of time which is what we think happened to mine AFTER it had been sentenced to death by a Turner Performance re-mapengine aside, theres no real way a lifter could 'pump up' and cause the valve to stay open, unless it didn't close before the cam came round again
just my opinion
still wouldnt cause it to pump up, just open the valve at the wrong timeUnless its jumped a cog on the chain and thrown it out of time which is what we think happened to mine AFTER it had been sentenced to death by a Turner Performance re-map
Yes a blown engine like what happend to mine. Not my problem now anyway. I just wanted to PRE WARN folk that's back on the www and should be avoided as its cursed.still wouldnt cause it to pump up, just open the valve at the wrong time

There's always a way, never give up!!!Old girl due for oil and filter change. As you folks know not too mobile these days and no one available to take out and refit drain plug. Had in shed a syphon thing that claimed to pump up engine oil from through dip stick pipe. Have in past long ago used these on a commercial scale with electric pumps. This was a hand one, any way warmed engine to thin oil, tried with pipe that came with it, way to thin to suck up oil so change for some 10mm dia plastic plumbers piping and you know what out came the oil like a good un. Took 3 or 4mins sat on a chair pumping away ( must have looked bit weird for any body looking from behind). Filter swapped over new oil in and away I went.
Cheers mate . Thinking for next time try one off those small pumps that you can run with a cordless drill. If that works even easierThere's always a way, never give up!!!
they can work quite well if you get the speed of the drill just right, not used one in ages thoughCheers mate . Thinking for next time try one off those small pumps that you can run with a cordless drill. If that works even easier
A bloke I know uses one on his allotment to pump water around an irrigation system he's made so thought warm oil it should work. PLUS far cheaper than taking to any garage and also know that the job has been done.they can work quite well if you get the speed of the drill just right, not used one in ages though
thats the killer.. main stealers especially, even if they do the work, you can't be sure its been done well, that they remembered to replace the filter etcknow that the job has been done.
