IMPORTANT – please read if you’re taking your vehicle outside the UK from January 2021
You don’t currently need a Green Card to drive your vehicle in the EU, and that will still be the case until 31 December 2020. But if you’re leaving before that date and coming back after, you might need one.
It's possible that the UK and EU won't have a new trade deal at the end of the Brexit talks and "transition period". If this happens, you'll need a Green Card to drive your car in Europe.

What's a Green Card?
A Green Card is an internationally recognised insurance document that proves you have the minimum level of cover legally required by country you’re visiting.
You'll need to request a Green Card for your trip as they aren't issued automatically. You may not be allowed to enter a country outside the UK without one and bear in mind you’ll need to take a hard copy – having it on your phone isn’t enough.
