I think my bm54 unit died today.
No screen.
No orange power light.
No dash indicator, high beam or fog light warnings.
Fuse49 has no effect and unplugging the sat nav unit has no effect. Haven't tried the bm54 or dsp amp yet.

I know this isn't the original bm54 unit as it has a bmw start up logo and in the settings it thinks its a blue x5.

The annoying thing is iv never found water in the back end or any visible marks or corroded connectors.

Diagnostics wouldn't speak to anything computer wise today. It did when I fitted gearbox at the weekend as I was showing lad that helped me everything it could talk too

Been out Xmas shopping today, sadly spoiled by the discovery of 2cm of water in the boot. This is war, it’s coming down the D pillar N/S for sure and possibly also slightly less O/S so all the trim is getting removed this weekend to get this sorted. We’ve only had a few days rain so it won’t make the winter without intervention.
Just looked out the window and it’s snowing, the kids are cracking jokes about melt water in the Range etc. Somebody could get injured.
Tricky.

And now the things working again randomly and sound quality seems to be amazing compared to before.....

Everything else is aswell so....

What's the engine in @Grrrrrr ? It looks very Jag. Including the a/c compressor position. On the V12 5.3 it made the changing of number 1 plug nearly impossible unless,as I did adapt a plug socket. When I did my mates the plug had never been changed even though it was main stealer serviced religiously.

That's a v12 as put in the Jag XJS.

Nightmare especially if the opus became temperamental, looks like a Series II XJ12 V12, won't be much use sitting out in the weather though...

Every single injected V12 I worked on was running on 9 cylinders and all the owners were none the wiser, usually stuck injectors to blame a direct 12v feed from a battery would get them going again, nothing better than when they ran well, down into 1st on the TH400 trans they howl right up to 6500 and nearly a ton :D

Stock power was around 285hp I believe the intakes and throttle bodies strangled them, with some intake and head work they can make over 340hp

It has been out in the weather 40 years but I put a scope down half a dozen cylinders in the summer and it looked new inside. Not tried turning it yet. Want to scope the other 6 first. Various bits are a bit dent and broken because it has fallen over and rolled a few times. I took some rough measurements and I reckon it will fit in a P38.

If the satnav has been upgraded to dvd its possible out of a bmw hence the bmw splash screen on start up, I have the same thing on mine now after upgrading satnav to dvd.

Tempted..

I need £££ though :D
Its tough decision to make albeit fun. All i will say is having owned both and currently a beautiful Shadow 2 currently you will need at least a 10k emergency reserve fund mate in place just in case. Since owning my Shadow 2 i have put 10k in to her just to make her perfect and 100% reliable and in the last 3 years she has had 27k spent on her and it shows and i have all the invoices too. She might be for sale along with my Mint Rover P5B too as we are planning on a down sizing move to Plymouth, buy an apartment and an RV and go travelling. If you need any advice at all about Rolls/Bentley ownership then i am more than happy to help you and advise you on what to look for and avoid.

I reckon it may have or just died before. Away to take the units out and cases off dry them next to workshop stove. And keep the spares handy

Plugged the nano in again to check roughness timing, which I've found out is less than perfect ignition, when it reaches a certain value of roughness, it registers a misfire.
Anyone know why the engine rpm and target rpm are different? This was taken at idle with my foot off the accelerator...

Don't know. Seems a bit odd. What engine and year is it?
