Have you replaced the steel brake lines to the rear if not Now is the time to do it, as if they have not been done you will be shocked at the state of some of the pipe work at the back,
we did a thread on brake pipes a couple of weeks back.
Thanks, they were all done for the last MOT.

Found 2 rear Lockheed RRC calipers, remnants of my dads escapade with a 1989 Diesel 20yr ago.

I'm sure a coat of paint and they'd be fine ;)

Oh and..

Anyone have a clue what these bits of foam are for?

I bought them ages ago and have forgotten why........ lol ;)

Finally got the last piece of my air conditioning fitted. Now everything newly replaced, condenser, dryer, compressor, switches. Broke now !....got to save up for the gassing up.

That include the thermostatic expansion valve on the bulkhead?!

Replaced the bushes on the front radius arms today.
I had a look at them yesterday as I was packing up, and I thought they looked in good order, that and the fact they were metalastic type made me think I didn't need the hastel of getting the old ones out. Had another look this morning and although there was no movement in them thought I might just as well do them and finish the whole job off properly.
I really have no idea how long they had been on, but once I started taking them off it was obvious they were well past it, the rubber had become rock hard. To get the bushes out of the axle end it was just a case of stitch drilling all round and then cutting the outer tube of the bush and folding in on itself with a small cold chisel. The rubber was that hard I was getting chips out as if I was drilling wood, actually made things easy. Knackered again now, could have finished today but I'd had enough.
Anyway, that's the spanner arms done, final job tomorrow is re-fit the steering arm and re-bush the panhard rod.

Did the panhard rod bushes this morning, the gorrila that done the bolts up must have struggled a bit, (a long spanner with another linked on it finally cracked the nuts). Finally found a use for the huge "F-off" G clamp I bought from a boot sale a few years ago.

To give you an idea of size, the nut on the end is 38mm, and that's a proper engineers vice.

The doris gave me a hand to hold a couple of sockets and the bar in place and I wound the bushes out easy, was a big spanner though.
Anyway, new polys and everything bolted back in place. Test drive and there is a real difference to the ride and handling, so jobs a good un.
Downside is the steering damper feels rather soft when refitting, so looks like I've found something else to spend time and money on.

I remember doing the rear radius arms on my 3.9 manual, it started to make a nice noise when i bought it home, turned out she had towed so much the bolts securing it to the axle had bent a good 30 degrees which destroyed the bush, this made for fun removal.

Speaking of which ;)

A year ago today I owned a 1991 Range Rover Classic Vogue MANUAL ;)

I had it around 3 months, and in that time I did head gaskets and all the suspension bushes..

Also a set of police spec springs to replace the stock softies and the dead Boge..

:eek::eek: Glad I don't have that problem to go with the rest.
To be fair, in comparisome with a lot of vehicles I've owned Buttercup is quite easy, she is in very good order generally and I cant remember having a seized/rusty bolt so far.

Are you sure thats a G clamp and not an axle ball joint removal tool :p looks like it would do the job nicely :D
