Usually because the protective coating has been compromised much the same as steel. Alloy skins onto steel frames plus salt on the roads leads to electrolytic action which is also a problem.
The only problem i can foresee is the hammerite blocking the drain holes..

Finally changed my n/s front sidelight bulb. It's worked on and off since I got it.
First time on a dual carriageway without a trailer.
2 flaws with my l322.
1. Motorway height (I didn't even realise it had a trailer mode before) is horrible on anything but a flat smooth dual carriageway ended up locking it in normal height.
2. Theres no bloody front ashtray so a drizzle of rain I cant even have a fag with the window up

I'd be surprised if you didn't get a bulb check at least
Mines got all wheel tc and it lights up in the morning to say pressure is too low

Is the light meant to come up on the dash when you put the ignition on?

Yes. Not all cars had it although I think yours is a DSE? I'd be surprised if it didn't. What's the ANR number stamped on the front of your brake modulator?

Mine puts the three amigos on with the ignition, after its started and the pressure rises in the system only the abs lamp is lit until I go over a certain slow speed. The tc lamp will flash on if the system kicks into action. ;)
