Today's job is finding out why my 5th cylinder isn't firing. We're pretty sure it's a open fuel injector as the O2 sensor is completely dead

How long has the last battery lasted?

Expected lifetime, considering it has sat plenty of times discharging. It needs replaced, I'm under now illusions however after charging over night, I've had the old girl out a 10 minute run for the first time in a while!
 
I had my DT with dead battery. 2 days to charge right up, it would run for a day or two, then dead out of nowhere. Worked through the electrical niggles until it would run for few weeks (if ran everyday) on the 2day charge. Then had new battery and it’s been fine ever since :)
 
Just another run to the tip with the trailerfull of bags of rubble. I've had to dig out the kitchen floor where the extention met the original level, the "builder" forgot to put in a propper base and left an open drain. So the floor had dropped and cracked the tiles.:eek:

Did the tip charge you per bag, they do down here £5 a bag they class it as trade waste even an old fence panel is chargeable:(
 
Fixed rear door card where mother-in-law had ripped it off. Rather than take out the thing jamming the door open she just tried slamming it harder and harder. FFS.

Also, got a smell like hot plastic outside the driver's door when getting out. Bit odd. Had a look around and doesn't seem to be the fusebox but might be in that vicinity. Couldn't work out what though. So wait and see, I guess.

With a failed 02 sensor she'll run open loop which is a rich mixture, however it seldom causes a misfire.

i'd be inclined to look at ignition faults for the misfire.

We were desperately hoping we didn't have to pull out all the plugs but since the LPG isn't firing it either you're most likely right

Don't buy P38s that seem too good to be true folks
 
Got the remaining injectors out, cleaned up like new and back in. No5 and particularly No6 were in tight, nearly snapped something :eek: the threads were gritted up on 6 all the way down and a lot of crud between the head and copper washer :confused:
5 had few tiny tiny metal bits in port when I probed with a magnet. Only just visible but nothing in others. Maybe from threads? Guess last person put injectors in jammed the crud in there with them

Slight tapping from 5/6 on first fire and bit of black smoke on revving, sounds different now - somehow healthier? :confused::)
 
Finished my wheel marathon yesterday by putting them back on, took loads of pics as I know we like them.

Fair bit of sanding to do, it was taking me around 4 1/2 hours each rim to hand sand most of the crud out.
Etch primer coat.

After a couple of coats of silver, masking up to spray the center.

Center colour finished. Laquer coated.

Hopefully should last a couple of years at least. And now they are fitted I'm glad I chose black, sets off the rest.

How did you do the rim, taped up the black and sprayed silver?
Edit - I see now, you did it first, with the weights :eek::rolleyes:

You sprayed over the balancing weights?

Looks great. Much better. Love those wheels on the Classic
