I used to drop mine to access but it seems now that if I do that, the tank is empty in the morning. If I leave it in standard, the same but if I leave it in highway, more often than not, when I start up the day after, it levels up in a few seconds and then the pump stops within a minute or two.
I don't think that's right but that's what happens.
I need to investigate because it still dances around a bit at standard height for some reason. I've got a pile of datalogs from nanocom but not had time to look at them to see if I can work out what's going on.
Mine used to dance , I changed the drive pack only because I had one and it sorted it.
 
I always let it down to access to make it easier for the misses to get in and out and normally run it round locked in motorway height.

I need to do the pump again as it's worn the seal out running so much.
Then I'm going to refurb the valve block (or I might even make myself a new one from industrial pneumatic kit) then if it's still dancing, I'll stick a new driver pack in.
 
Today I rebuilt the cooling system on the b*stard. Seems to have cured the leak and starts as it should. Anyone need a it start fix? Time for a rest run tomorrow.
 
Nothing, I left the tempermental git on the drive. Whilst I worked on the dog's new wheels :D

Steering has been just a tiny bit vague for the last few months, no sign of it on our normal roads but on long straights need to keep making small corrections, also had a tiny foretaste of the "Death Rattle" on the weekend, so time to do something about it.
Adjusted the swivel preload, took quite a lot of adjustment but fortunately there were stacks of shims already on the top pins so just needed to mix and match until all came right. :):)
While faffing about found that the steering damper was deffo fubared, and I have a tiny bit of free play on the drop arm. :(:mad::confused:
So thats yet another order for bits, and I shall have to have a go at adjusting the steering box. I have no doubt I shall find something else wrong while I'm doing that. ;);)Oh well, gives me something to do I suppose.
 
Took her for a nice run for an hour and a half ,to try to charge the battery. Then got her wheels balanced. All 4 were slightly off. Nothing major on any of them but still off. Vibration seems to have gone but you know Range Rover, the moment you say something is fixed,it comes back twice as bad.
 
Finally my 4 new winter tyres arrived from Moscow, so had them balanced and fitted (regardless of axel) and had the front suspension airbags replaced for prices that don't make your eyes water and what a difference to the drive. As always you just don't realise with tyres until you have 4 new boots fitted how bad your old ones were. This 17 year old motor just keeps giving big grins. Next week head gaskets so a delve into the pocket again but still worth it for a vehicle that has never let me down and hopefully will just keep giving.
