You really don't once the headlining is out precut a new bit for the sunroof slide and then glue it in place and trim, that's what I did much easier and no mess

350 mile trip to Lincolnshire may have done the old girl in finally.. Loud knocking at the top end and grey smoke out the back.
Last seen on an AA transporter going off in the distance.

Regarding the sunroof recover, in my case it too was sagging down so I had to remove the blind to recover. While I know others have done this bit on their own I just grabbed someone for the remove and refit to the car stages. Much easier. Am now on holiday in a damp Cornwall enjoying the car.

Sage advice from the garage.....

I wouldn't drive a Datsun either.:p
Calmed down a bit after the garage call, took a second look at the Ford Focus in the drive that I've been lent....:(:(
Sod it ..!! Gonna get me "amateur" spanners out and try and sort it meself.
Can't break it any worse, Fleabay non runners..£500.??! No Thanks.

Don't really get to use her very much these days, I might drive her once a week, if that. Made a list of things that could do with being amended, but I decided to do none of them and attach a USB hub to my centre console so I can charge multiple devices at once... because priorities.

Just back from Cornwall. A shade over 800 miles in a week. Only issue was on start up a couple of times it raised itself to offroad height. No idea why other than it was parked on a bit of a hill with camber as well. Almost 3 tanks of the amber liquid.

Soft fault. Need to read codes. Maybe dodgy connection or maybe a height sensor reading too far adrift from expected.
