Not today but last w/end.....removed scuttle trim and then the nearside scuttle grille. Removed plate cover held with the 10mm bolts and got access to the intake for the nearside heating and fan - took retaining plate off and cleaned up all the silicone a previous owner had placed there. Made sure everything was clean and dry and carefully reassembled it all back together. When apart I noticed a small gap in the body pressing that you could just about get a matchstick in or less, so that had a blob of said sealant as well.
Anyway - job done - no more water leak. It's obviously had this problem for years on and off, so now got to get the interior dry at last and we all know the answer to that one.
Use it - a lot.
Still got low brake fluid warning light showing so it's off to the indies for a diag again on Monday and a pre mot look at. Have looked at all the readily accessible BECM plugs and checked for damp in that area - seems ok though.

Thinking of selling my JE straight through centre pipe, sounds great under throttle but too much of a drone on the motorway with the janspeed rear boxes.
 
Sat in it a bit. Worked out how to use the stereo and satnav (I think...). Got a warm behind from the seat warmers. Got out and stared at it a bit, then went indoors and ordered some new tie rods and a drivers seat switch valence.
 
Today, we mostly removed the underneath LPG tanks (just as well, they were minging) and the tiny fuel tank, then did all the measuring and so on to fit the full sized tak. Bit of a mare is this! Brackets done, holes drilled and pipes...piped... :D

Had to special order (V.O.R.) a part... the part that holds the pump in place in the tank because the clownboys who fitted the LPG put a whee in it :mad:

Should be in by 09:30 tomorrow and mate will pick me up after that and we will go finish the job. He's been awesome, doing all the hard work while I have been more or less "advising" him :rolleyes:

Right now, I am in bits and my foot & knee hurt like a bee hatch o_O
 
Buggeration! :(

So, there are two different sized sealing rings (the screw on ring that holds the pump/sender in place) and after we had ordered VOR the metal one, we found a spare Discovery sitting in the yard so checked if it's ring was the same as mine (ooh err...:p ).

No! I then called and told the chap at the parts dept we need the plastic ring as it is smaller... No problem, VOR'd that an all. At least that way we'd have two to try and sell the "wrong" one to the local indie.

I call this morning and it turns out he'd ordered a sealing gasket, not actually a plastic ring :confused:

However, my car is currently blocking my mates ramp so in order to get it orf, I needed a plan.... It is this. We have a ring off a BMW, it will be cut, slots cut into it to make it a few mm smaller, then fit it with a large worm clip to make sure it's all tight so we can at least get her off the ramp.

The worst bit is I will be forced to cut a hole on the floor to save hours of removing the new tank and what not. However, I will cut it round with a jig saw, drill holes to place in plastic clips for screws so i can make a round removable lid like there should have been if anyone at LR had had any sense back in the day :rolleyes:

That way, if the pump goes, it will be an hours work to replace instead of all day :)
