I remember doing the starter motor on mine & thinking it was a pain...had to down tools a few times on this one to clear my head. Feck, that rear bolt on the drivers side exhaust manifold...thats just evil!

Picked it up from a great little hobby garage who re-did the headliner and recovered ALL 8 pillar trims for less than 200 quid.... yup, you heard me, LESS than 200 quid.... and he fixed the rear twin-seat drop down release latch and put in LED's for the blister lights for FREE.... AND, he did the lot in one day!

Depends which Merc you got. Is it a true Merc or a Chrysler/Daimler AG? I had a gorgeous 1995 Merc E200 (W124), which never let me down. Only traded her for a Disco because the dog was struggling to get in the back seat.
It is a 2002 CL55 C215 (W215 for weirdos in Murica). So when Merc decided reliability cost too much to engineer. I should've know better, but a V8 makes me smile more than boobies.

Yep such a shame that their merger with Chrysler brought around that type of thinking. I kind of fell out of lust with Merc once they changed to slanty headlights. Still a nice drive and I can see why the V8 makes you smile. I still miss my V8 Disco.
Considering the two vehs you decided on, do you go out in the morning and pray at least one of them will have a day without issues ;)

The way of the world I suppose . I am assured by a man at Merc that new ones are just as reliable as the old ones, but it still isn't going to get me buying another one, unless I am buying classics.
V8s are for winners. When I finally jump to camp L322, it'll be a V8 one.
With the Merc, I always expect something to break, but the Rangie is (touch wood) the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. A few age related faults recently, but when you're pushing 220k, you can expect a parts to fail.

Just avoided what could have been an expensive trip, planned to go off to Yalta today. Decided to check the oils, water and washer fluid as i've used a lot lately with it being - degrees and crappy lately. The top radiator hose was blown up like a balloon between the Rad and the fist pipe that comes off at a T. Trip cancelled and a new part sourced from Moscow so should be back on the road in a week. I know with my luck I would have been in the middle of nowhere when it would have blown. The Russians don't have an AA or RAC so that would have been bad. So pleased I listened to my old dad on always check before a trip.

This one you mean ?

Changed the front antiroll bar drop links and put new wipers on ready for the mot, the drop links have got to be one of the easiest job to do :)

My Rangie has been OK, no major issues so far. Will have to investigate why the driver side heated door mirror is constantly on when driving and an annoying buzz from rear drivers side loud speaker, traced to the radio :)

Both heated mirrors are powered at all times when engine is running.
