Its ok if it local and when you can check the goods before handing over the cash, but there are a lot of scams, same car seven adds in different locations in the country :rolleyes: and give us a 200 deposit and well will hold it for you i mean run away with your hard earned dosh:(

So after having a reckon up of what it's going to cost for a guaranteed head, gasket set, timing chains kit(both), cam, lifters etc etc it's going to cost more than the car is worth. Swmbo says no it's time for her to go, we've had her since 2012.😭
Cam and lifters may be re-useable from the old head.

Try calling Charles (cn4x4, I think he was on eBay) and see if he has a good lump?

This kit looks pretty solid, although I think the 2 screws through the expansion tank hooked up to a buzzer would be cbheaper. Just a little worried about damaging the structural integrity of the expansion tank, especially given the stresses as it pressurises and depressurises.

If the threads suit, would a cap with a brake fluid level switch work? Or would that not hold the coolant pressure?
 
OK, so the punt on the rear wiper motor turned out to be a waste of 30 quid.
Very similar design but almost every part has a slight difference to the range rover one.
Just ordered the replacement gears from ebay and will rebuild mine.

Good news is, I had a quick look underneath to see which side I had front suspension arms for and it looks reasonably clean and dry.
Obviously I looked under it before I bought it but not up on the ramps with a torch. Even the rear subframe doesn't look terrible so hopefully it spent a good few years in its early life in a nice warm garage.
Still on the lookout for a good secondhand ramp and once I have that I'll get it all waxoyled underneath.
Still undecided on whether to go 2 post or 4 post. I can see pros and cons of both. Anyone with experience either way feel free to shout up!
 
i have a 3 ton 4 poster can do most things on it
The thing that puts me off 4 poster is that there's a lot in the way and you still have to jack up if you're doing anything that needs wheels off.
That said, they do feel safer.
Realistically I think I'm going to end up with a 2 post but if a 4 post presents at the right price I may go with it

ive got 2 of those jacks they use for mots if i need to get wheels off when something is on it, havernt found any job i cant do on it yet

Hope you didn't go for the Β£2.99 ones as the plastic is soft as Sh1t. I've had 2 and the motor gear ripped through the plastic teeth in no time, one on the first wipe.

My mates 4 post ramp has a built in hydraulic jack that with blocks can lift one or both wheels when the car is on the ramp. Shame he lives too far away for me to make use of it.

Turn off the EKA function and the Immobiliser and you will never have that problem again as you can just operate the car with the key blade.
One of my tasks when I get time off at Christmas is to finally get to grips with nanocom as more than reading/ clearing error codes and reading live data.

We bought one of these so we could get Otto and the wife's Ka raised or tilted for underbody work. Very handy doing the air springs.

Think @Mark Piercy has something similar.

I was spoiled when young as Dad had a garage with a selection of lifts. I don't have the head height now so have a pit which works well.
