plate value is 0.54, my MOT;
accel. 1 - 2.33, 2 - 0.84, 3 - 0.81, 4 - 0.76, 5 - 0.77, 6 - 0.75 with mean value 0.75 and 0.01 drift

tester says put some cleaner thru and rag it, see if it passes if i take it in straight after a run

yes, they've sold an illegal car, but prove it? legal route is something i 'should' do, but i expect it will end up costing me a lot of money. more than the cost of a second hand, or even new DPF?
Not sure the DPF would affect the emissions, I don't think they check for particulates. Someone may know for sure. Have you checked the state of the air filter, it was that that caused an emissions failure on my Transit.

its a little optical reader they shove up the tail pipe.. dunno how that works with 4 outlets
air filter was done in the summer.. oil a week or 2 ago

That is looking for smoke basically not particulates. worth checking the air filter, somehow the one on the Transit had got wet and mouldy in the space of a few months.
Just remembered the term they use, it's "opacity" of the exhaust fumes.

Problem is they normally test 'at some point' in the day, but tomorrow I'm taking it in for them to test straight away so should be proper hot
Mine is always a while you wait appointment, I do a 30 to 50 kilometre run on the way there with a couple of hills.

Did it fail miserably or just over the limit? Fingers crossed it'll pass when up to temp. My wife's old 118d had to be thrashed before emissions to pass 😅
