Might be FIP timing. Also worth checking the lift pump is chucking out fuel as per Wammers post in the Technical Archive.
Leaning more to a seal leaking, I've noticed the left side of the engine is always wet, but I haven't been able to pinpoint where from. Looking at the guide to replace the seals in situ, I shouldn't need to adjust the metering if I mark the FIP accurately.

Alternatively, I have some PRC1440B2 that I accidentally dropped into my bag one day while at work. I could always slap a load of that around the joints in the FIP (or wherever I can find the leak coming from) and see what happens.

If your going to do the fip, do the three seals. Upper cap section, lower secondary section and pump outlet head seal as well. 👍
 
Well mine has made it to wales and back with some touring round and has not missed a beat apart from the dodgey new battery but once the replacement was fitted its been fine, 22.6mpg according to the dash i know that lies but still ok considering the tin tent was on the back and i was not on an economy run and the new Grabber at3 which are bigger has put the speedo correct with the satnav so will take that as a win :)

Not gonna lie, I was planning on doing just the top 2 if it came to it. Looking at the wetness, it seems it starts around the lower section. I plan on taking off the intake so I can have a better look on the weekend.

On both mine it was just the top cover seal that was leaking. As it runs down it's hard to see if there are leaks lower down. After doing the tops, both cars are dry.

Had its starting quirk.
Went to start this morning, click, click, click, then starter came to life and fired over perfectly,
Its been fine all day since then and it'll be fine for 4-5 weeks on end then it'll do this 1 day then itl be fine for another 4-5 weeks
Its not like it slow cranks or just catches either il look into it one day 🤣
Had a disco 2 td5 that used to do that, two years I owned it and never got round to fixing it. Starters seem to limp on a while.
 
So 3 weeks ago i had to put my spare on noticed a few cracks in the inner sidewall but nothing too bad,
But today i found this STILL INFLATED

So iv bought another set of wheels so i can get my original supercharged wheels refurbished and brand new tyres on,
The set i got was local 300 notes, usable tyres for now but they're grey which i thought would mabye be okay against the silver short term how wrong was I? 🤮 looks absolutely awful its lost all its class and looks cheep tacky and nasty now heres a couple of pictures so you can laugh too

My supercharged has light grey wheels that were painted on the car.. faint grey line going down the black Brembo calipers. Now got silver paint and will order a can or two of 2k lacquer and repaint them, light grey goes ok with the odd bits of chrome and Buckingham blue but prefer silver.
 
Those landsails any good? Apart from the cracking 😅 Seem very popular, might have to go cheaper cuz I want my wheels refurbed and trued up same time, prefer pirellis but about 250 a corner

Looking at nexen as well, they seemed ok on my audi
Local tyre place and mechanic (separate firms) sell loads of landsails, no comebacks from talking to them, iv had them on mine a few times including there landsail “winter lander” winter tyre and that was decent enough. Good tyre for the price in my view, is it as good as the Pirelli scorpion, no but it’s 1/3 of the cost.
 
Had a bang noise in the drivers door on the motorway, turned out to be a popped off rivet from the window mechanism!! Drilled the two easy ones out and replaced them with little bolts and a touch of loctite. The third and hard to access rivet near the motor, I put in a new bigger heavier rivet. Sorted, also a bit of dash board cleaner in the window tracks (didn't have anything else) helped 😉
Greased the sliders and mechanism.
Going to look at why the drivers seat has excessive movement in it. It rocks backwards and forwards slightly and could fail the mot??

Both my front seats do that. Can’t feel it sat in seat but when pushed from behind it moves a good inch or so at the top of the seat, (although the whole back moves) I put it down to way it’s built and size of the seats although by 2004 td6 has slight movement but not as much as my 06 4.2, which are still bmw seats with split backrest.

I'm going to look at the seat sliding mechanism underneath, maybe there's something I can do as it is a little annoying 🤔😉

keep us updated if you find anything, be good to have mine solid but it’s not a major issue as even under braking it doesn’t seem to move, sometimes i wonder if it’s just play in the various parts and they are a big heavy seat with only 1 fixing at the base to floor nothing to support behind, if i think about it I’m sure the seats in my old e53 x5 did the same.

Well, I checked the four main pivot bolts and they were tight. The rest are pressed studs so not much I can do there🤷‍♂️ as you say, à lot of small wear in a lot of small linkages over the last 23yrs...

Only a week Keith and I've already a ton of work to attack this week coming😊 I'm looking at replacement air-bags after only four yrs??? They are dunlops but they don't have an easy life on the bus. I was going to ask about Arnott, g2's or g3's?? 🤔

I managed 23 towing a trailer and 2 bikes, which probably means 20 at best. Still better than having to hire a van and all the faff that goes with it

Aren't there bushes that can be replaced similar to BMW electric seats ?

I have had Arnott Gen2's on mine for about 13 years, the Arnott's still look like new. Just been spending time under the bus doing a service and fixing the German quality porous sump that looks like it was patched from new or nearly new. Gen3's are of no interest to me as I don't go off road. Even for you I doubt they are worth the extra cost as you would also need longer shocks.

Mines got a patch also🤭 I've a client with a 38 who also has patch right beside the front diffs travel route😣
I'll look into the Gen 2's as longer travel isn't an issue me thinks 👍
