Been faffing about with the window switch pack on my p38 today. Found a very nice thread by Martyuk on another forum detailing how to fix them one you've got it all apart its a very doable job. Not sure what the policy is about linking to other forums on here, so no link but google is your friend!

As you can see above there is some corrosion on the contacts which in my case caused them to not go up anymore. Which is unpractical if that happens just when it starts raining...

I think he posted the same stuff on here at one stage.
 
So, you were in 1st gear, even at walking pace the revs would have to go up a long way before the torque convertor caught up with the speed of the gearbox input shaft.
I suppose i was thinking how the p38 was, which never locked up in 1st.. but appreciate a very different box
 
Took her to Gibsons as the telescoping steering ginally gave up the ghost. Hoping it just the white plastic bit, as I can still hear the motor whirring.
 
Missing a couple of bolts that hold the gearbox shield.. its humming like a trombone at 1100 revs!! And very loud. Whoever put it on didn't tighten it up! Need to buy a pack of new ones, just regular M8 i think but not sure where from.. Screwfix don't seem to have any! I'll try the hardware shop tomorrow

Westfield Fasteners might have them in stainless.

actually they are M5 (8mm socket), the one!! remaining has a captive washer.. apart from the 'how in the world do they do that!?', whats the point other than to stop you dropping the washer?

If your other ones had them maybe the bolts wouldnt have fallen out. so perhaps if they were put on the other side of the cover they may come loose but wouldnt fall out ;)
I have noticed a few places they have used them on the L322. But not done the gearbox cover so dont know for sure.
