Yep, I'm leaning toward the battery on this.
Drive to work this morning, 35 mins.
Just got in, checked the battery (via ciggy lighter jobby).. i know it's not asleep, but showing 11.9v with ignition off, 11.7v ignition on :(
Should get a trailer plug for charging purposes anorl
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195690790961

Why do they have the circle things on the side? What's the purpose?
The plug is rotated to insert, the socket flap comes down on the circle to lock the plug in place.

Looks like they dont do delivery on batteries either, not suprising given the weight. Though if you wanted I could always order it for you to your local halfords and forward you on the email with the QR code for collection. I've never known them to ask for ID when providing the QR code even though its already paid for online.
appreciate the offer, though i've never had much luck with halfrauds or their batteries. last battery I bought from there i complained about only held 12.4v. they put their machine on it which gave a printout stating 'OK' and told me the battery was brand new and come back when the car doesnt start
they dont deserve custom o_O

@kermit_rr Actually to be fair if you wanted to go down the route of halfords one, I could probably just send you my login details and that way you can order it yourself if wanted and you would also have the payment proof to show them if needed if you used something like paypal.

Ah fair enough, i've personally never had an issue with them though like anything halfruads or not you can occasionally get a duff item from manufacture and trying to convince anyone becomes a mission on its own.

havent noticed a mega fuse.. what did you do with it?
Took it apart and change its orientation, It originally tucked down the side of the battery under the 2 red leads, if you zoom in there is no gap left.

In bits after I finally worked out it wasn't the blowey apart thingy they used on early models:eek:.

Yours may not use it its surprising what LR changed in a year model when everything else is the same:rolleyes:.

SDD does battery changing, yes, but it requires ignition on and volts at or over 12.5 for the duration

Shirley you change the battery then do it after fitting:confused:. That's what we did.

i was planning to connect jump leads to the rear fuse box while changing the battery, so it doesnt forget stuff

We never lost anything, maybe had to do "lock to Lock" but really nothing I can remember, none of that radio code or window setting nonsense:D.

J

I fitted a battery at L393mm x w175mm x H190mm. 020
But had to rearrange the mega fuse as there wasnt the space to slot it down the side. simple job:D.
Does your SDD allow you to update a new battery?

Top tip, dont leave it in the boot when you disconnect the battery:rolleyes:.

J

You need diag to change the battery?! JMFMoC.

o_O:confused:

Yep, well no you can change it. but need to tell it "new " battery size for new charging regime.
Bit like Adaptive settings if you fit new gearbox in a P38;).

You dont have to do it if you change a bulb............ yet .

J
Only on the 4.6V8 do the adaptive values have to be reset.

i didnt have to do lock to lock when i disconnected previously.. i probably shouldnt fuss :D

i need to get a couple of HID bulbs in stock.. they still work but for how long? the bulb bit is getting towards opaque, so not as much light as there should be emitted
they arent cheap! hence lurking on aliexpress

Got the mf31 -1000 battery and fitted it today. Bus started like a good unn, ran for 5mins then just died, no dash. No lights no crank. Nothing. Got out shut the door and could hear the locks cycling. Got back in unlocked all doors with cill buttons and it stopped. Locked each door starting with the back ones and when I got to the passenger door it started again.
So now have to sort the locks out and most importantly find out why I've got no power to anything but the locks. Any pointers would be most appreciated.

Was it ok before? Check you've got a good connection on the battery terminals they can be loose even if done up tight, if they aren't pushed into the battery all the way

I’m with Kermit, was going to make an identical post. I use a bit of copper wire wedged between the battery terminal and the clip to ensure good contact as no matter how much I tighten the clip it does not grip any better.

Yeah was ok before only changed battery because the other failed 2 months after guarantee run out. Battery connections are tight had to pry the clamps open to get them on. Car started fine after battery change, then just died whilst I was resetting the windows. Didn't have time to investigate further so just disconnected battery and locked her up.

Check earth connections. Strap to bottom of engine and to altenator. Worth a sniff in the fusebox while you check the fuses.

Just going out to it now to give it a coat of looking at with the dvm. I have another fuse box so might just change it over.
