Hi & Lo range has nothing to do with the gearbox, that is a function of the transfer box.
you can only select each gear in manual low, or does the book mean select R and D when it says select all gears? i dont know, but dont see any harm in selecting each number

What are you on? You can select PRND321 in Hi Range. Same in Lo range but the gearbox operation is different.

I understood the shifter in hi, limited the highest gear but would always start off in 1. Ie select 3 and it would start in 1 then auto up to 3.
If you select low manual, it will lock in whichever gear you select and never change and you can force it into each actual great ratio
Thus, if you select R D 3 2 1 in hi, the box (while stationary) will only select R and 1

If I remember rightly though in high range, 321 basically work the same as D as in they will use all gears up to the number you have selected so in theory putting it in Hi 3 and foot on the brake technically the gearbox is still in first up until it moves and needs to use 3. Where as in low range I think it actually specifically locks it to the gear number you are selecting. Though I could be totally wrong on all that admittedly.

But maybe it doesn't matter, select R and D, the box is pressurised, regardless which clutches are open or closed

Actual engagement of gears is speed dependent so running through the gears is about filling the galleries with oil. No mention of doing the run through in low range in the ZF manual and of course most vehicles fitted with the ZF4HP22/24 do not have a low range.

Probably me over thinking things, as usual :)

Getting ready for a well deserved holiday, gave her good wash and polish, which was like painting the forth road bridge. It is worth it tho', I then noticed that the new powder coated alloys were looking very smart, not the centre badge tho'. Back to the interwatsit, the prices were all over the place, from £35 EACH, to £56 for 4, for a bit of plastic. I was amazed, not to worry, back to the search engine, about half way down the page....was ETSY, what, I need to have a look at this. £14 for 4, hand made it said, I will have £14 quid of that. here they are and very good too with gold lettering to boot.

I believe you are correct, although I haven't played with the autobix so much. Rather a nice touch by Land Rover that. Gives maximum control off-road.

Morning all. I haven't done anything yet, but need tomlook at the stereo unit. I know we have hundreds of threads and posts on stereo issues BUT...... I can't find any step by step for checking the DSP. After a couple of weeks without a stereo and blaming the battery, it's time to look elsewhere. Which leads to the DSP, especially as the DSP selection disappeared off the screen when the stereo decided not to play.
Anyone able to find a step by step, as I can't. Oh and search bar doesn't like just 3 letters

Spat mouth wash all over the inside of the the drivers window…

Just got to the dentist and thought I would have some mouthwash before I went in but my body decided it wanted to cough when it was in my mouth…. At least the car will smell minty fresh now.

Fink i need a new starter button, every now n then you hear the starter engage then immediately disengage and the dash goes off. Assume the switch contracts are going bad and it's registering a double press instead of just a press.
Unless it's anything else? Maybe i need to test summat :D
Gotta love the landy brand

Sounds more like the starter sticking. A blast of air might remove any dust inside.

i've noticed it stops cranking if you take your foot off the brake.. which is weird.. but the dash stays 'on' ie position 2
in my case it goes black like its switched off, with just the P and yellow SRS light

If I push the pedal but release early so it doesn’t start, I get this.

I'm going to have to do a photo run now, arent i!!
its going to behave for weeks now, until the time i forget to have my phone ready

I've noticed some times, if i let the screen go to sleep, then sneak up and press start.. the engine is running before the dash has woken up o_O which i assume is just one of those things.. i'm the same sometimes :p
