So, having fixed the leaking FIP, I decided to have a go at the paint on the bonnet. In it's previous life, after it stopped moving, it was used as a shelf the stack boxes of grapes. The paint on the bonnet is flat & stained, I really didn't think anything short of a re-spray would improve it, especially as I'm no expert with rubbing compound and polish To my surprise, it's coming up a treat using a foam pad on a drill and some ultra fine rubbing compound. Not finished yet but all in all, a good day:)

Fort r trailer symbol was supposed to flash with the indicators, not display all the time?
It does flash with the indicators, the legally required indication that the indicators are working. Some cars have a buzzer that does the same job.

The l322 fast flashes if a trailer light indicator goes out, cars with the trailer when attached that is part of the bulb check system it doesn't need a buzzer or separate telltale

Do i need to check if the oil drain mod has been done on my 4.4tdv8? Was it a recall? Remember reading something before i thought I'd ever own one

Had a reasonably busy week with mine; I removed the passenger door card to clean it after a friend of my beloved's managed to perform a technicolour yawn all over ti last weekend! :( If any of you happen to be away for the weekend and find that your wife is driving her friends to a "Buff Vikings bottom-less brunch", I'd suggest that you make her take her own car. Although the incident was confessed to immediately there was an omission in the information that covered whose car it happened to, naturally I assumed it was her Disco 4 until I got home and the horror unfolded!

I decided to buy the VIN licence for my RR with Gap IID, Now I have the DRLs enabled and the "Follow me home reverse light" option also. The wife has been holding this over me as she has it on her Disco. The DRLs aren't really bright enough as they are just the sidelights being enabled. I'm not sure if they are a bit too 'bling' either but it's a couple of minute jobs to turn them off if I decide I don't like them. On another note, I'm a bit disappointed not to have cornering lights on this one when they were fitted to the earlier models.

I've been getting sporadic issues with my EGRs, the car seems to think there is an issue and then it goes away almost immediately so I decided it was time to do a quick and dirty type counter measure. I've had a blanking kit for a while but been procrastinating on fitting it as it's been so cold or wet but decided to crack on and fit it. It was actually a lot easier than I'd assumed and having Gap IID meant that I could set the suspension to "Bump Stops" to counter the issue of my very short legs when trying to work in the engine bay. I soaked the EGRs in cleaner where I could in the hope that it dissolves some of the carbon and frees them off. I need to get it to my friendly MOT guy and see if I can get it on his emissions machine now to make sure it will pass when it's due.

It's illegal to remove the EGR, just hope the tester doesn't spot it has been removed.

not condoning the action or suggesting anyone tries, but if someone wanted to blank off egr, couldnt you insert a blank plate between and leave the unit in place?

On new stuff, blanking produces an EML, it needs to be mapped out. On the P38, it's as simple as removing the vacuum pipe to disable the EGR. Just remember to put the pipe back for the MOT.

It will prove the concept for me. It's not a long or difficult job to put it back and I certainly wouldn't sell the car like this as it would be unfair to any new owner. The legality aspect of deleting an EGR is not a grey area, it's illegal. I know that and I accept any consequence of my actions for doing so, however, I'm more interested in whether or not it adversely affects the emissions as after all, that is the goal of the EGR. If it stays within tolerance, I expect I'll leave it as is but if it is outside of spec (i.e. can't pass an MOT or roadside inspection) then I'll have to suck it up, remove them and hope I can clean them out or replace them.

I'm fairly confident that the issue has been caused by the split inlet manifold as one bank had clearly been running richer than Oprah for some time and of course that generates a great deal more soot to clog them up with. I did run some EGR cleaner through it over the weekend beforehand too which may have helped out, the error hasn't appeared since but I've hardly driven anywhere and we are all too aware of the placebo effect. The EGR cleaner does dissolve the carbon really well when sprayed directly to the valve as I did when they were open but that's only one side and how much actually gets to the EGR during a driving cycle would be very little I expect. Blanking the pipe is easy, getting the unit out looks far more involved! Joy!

I went no where, battery flat, just 6 volts left, noticed the passenger side headlight wiper was not parked. I thought I have seen this fault on here.
Went for a search found it, fuse 28, battery on charge as I type, could take a while tho'
