You should have automatically got a disabled badge, and if you read the leaflet it said about zero road tax in it?
Sadly its not an automatic issue. You have to apply for it via your local council as previously mentioned albeit you still have to meet certain criteria to get it issued. The road tax thing is a different story and again as mentioned previously you have to meet certain criteria on that score too. If you have ALL the relevant paperwork/letters of entitlement which includes the letter stating your road tax exemption be it 100% or 50% then the post office person will action the the vehicle taxation status there and then at their terminal and a few weeks later you will as previously mentioned get your new logbook back with DISABLED printed on it in the taxation class section. You will also receive a cheque in the post for your paid tax refunded to you. One thing you have to do BEFORE selling the car is revert it back to being a tax due vehicle again which takes time so plan ahead if your going to do this as you then have to repeat the whole procedure again with any new vehicle you buy/own unless its a mobility vehicle. You cannot have a mobility vehicle and also claim free tax on another car though. Just because you have a disabled blue badge does not mean you qualify for free or reduced tax either. Also in these times if you are white, English and proud you also get fook all. LOL so its best to convert before applying for a better chance of getting everything.

Duchess came with disabled in the log book, I just changed it along with the new owner(me), no issues.
However...the previous owner had died so maybe that had a bearing... dunno.

I was registered disabled due to injuries received in a RTA in1996,25 years later when the arthritis is really kicking in ,at the stroke of a pen I no longer qualify, the cnut at the DWP should go work for the NHS his name must be Jesus Christ. I gave up after fighting for years as the PTSD raised it's ugly head again.;)

Alan, should you require an "advocate" to help you appeal that decision, I'd be happy to assist you.
Of course, we'll need an interpretor to translate from Wirral-to-East Torkshire...haha!
Seriously, if you haven't done already, you have the right to have decisions reviewed.
Mike.
