Fecking Nissan Juke drivers. Just run the good lady up to her dads as the roads are quite treacherous with frozen snow and ice. Idiotic Juke driver just pulled out in front of me and another car nearly causing a crash. Fortunately he was the one who went side ways into a side street. Many expletives were thrown his way and pillock replied but I'm in a 4x4 and should be OK.. My missis ever the wit explained NO we are in a 4x4 and we drive to the conditions not like the ***** you are:D

Laws of physics don't apply!!! And it's got ABS traction control and i saw a YouTube video of a professional driver in a4x4 with studded snow tyres so it must be ok

Exactly kermitt. God I despair with some of these tw*ts I've owned LR's for over 30 years but I still drive to the conditions except maybe when we are somewhere set up for a bit of messing around
 
I had a Nissan Xtrail underpinnings are much the same as the Nissan Joke, they run 2WD most of the time and are useless in snow IMO
Young couple opposite me got conned by salesman a few years back into buying a Joke. They learnt the hard ward that they ain't a 4x4. Now when it snows or even gets icy there joke doesn't move from their house.
 
Went down to Wookey Hole over the weekend. Approx 400 mile round trip.

Managed to get a bit of laning in. Although not the sole purpose of the visit :D

Saw 19.5mpg on the way down. Reasonably happy with this. Have seen over 21 in the past, but that was on standard tyres, exhaust and suspension. So I suspect these have all had an impact on mpg.
Ended up mid 17's by the time I got home, but had been lower on the lanes and hills around Cheddar.

Yes it probably is to some extent.

255/70R16 MT vs 255/55R18 factory fit. Makes for 1.02" difference in height which is 3.8% I think.

Which would be 0.74mpg, i.e. 20.24mpg vs running on standard tyres. Makes me feel a bit better about it all :D

BTW the speedo is bang on with the MT's.

Agree totally, I get so angry here with T"$^s when I am home but also have a laugh during the winter when I am driving to the conditions (also having driven 4x4's mostly military and mostly LR for many moons) and see people do the usual Russian thing of I am not waiting I am in a 4x4 and hoon past me and I come around the next bend to see them in the ditch. But then again that's Russia and without it YouTube would be missing a lot of stupeedo's driving videos
 
Did an auto gearbox oil and filter change on Duchess. Old fluid was black and stinky so was expecting a big improvement in the box but it seems the same although I've never driven another and I don't know anyone nearby with a diesel to compare:p.
Got between an 1/8 and a 1/4 turn on all the valve block? Torx bolts too.
It does seem 'differant' now very slightly....
Shall do another oil change in the near future:cool:.
Wanted to grease the props whilst I was underneath but I can't get me end on the nipple, end is too fat:(.
I've read of someway round this but don't recall what it was:rolleyes:

it's a bit tight but if you twist the prop round there's usually one place where it slips in and you can pump to your hearts content. Might help if you're on wading height.

I've tried every position and it's no go but I haven't tried Wade height.
Done a search on here and @Datatek ground a flat on opposing sides of the tip which worked, it doesn't need much so I'll try the Wade thing first.

I had to grind the sides of my Wanner grease gun to get into the UJ grease nipples.
If the oil was black, it doesn't sound good. On a good box the changes are almost imperceptible, I have one like that and one that flares on the 2 to 3 shift.

Engine revs rise briefly and rapidly on shifts. Seems to be most common on the 2 to 3 up shift. My original P38 has been doing it for years, I drive round it by doing a lift on the throttle to force the shift to happen under light load. It's much better since I tightened the valve block bolts per Henry b's recommendation.

Sounds like mine then but I wasn't sure how an auto was meant to be having never driven one. The only thing that bugs me is the cold engine pull away, I have to over rev (in my opinion) to get her moving and accelerating which goes against my mechanical sympathy.
I have read on the internet of people saying they are dangerous pulling out of busy junctions and the like, I've not found that at all, floor it and the wheels spin and she's off like a scoulded cat BUT that's lots of revs which I don't like with a cold engine.

No bottom end power or torque on the M51 so you do have to rev them a bit. Mine struggles to get up the slope out of the valley unless booted, so I let them creep up the hill slowly. I manually hold it in 2nd with the gear lever if I want to get up the hill faster. As you say, they can take off PDQ when needed, especially when warmed up. Mine warm up quickly with no viscous fan:D
 
+1 shave your nipple gripper 2 sides.

I have had one encounter with an aggressive Juke. My drivers wing mirror glass now wobbles at high speed. The juke lost considerable amount of plastic.
