I’m using my daughters car at the moment no heater at all just blows cold on full power only I brought the part it needs but it’s a Fiat 500 and to do the job you have to take out the drivers seat and half the dash and steering column think I suffer the cold
Sounds the same as my colleague's old Zafira. It was one of the ones with cold only, or automatic ignition for the whole car.

That'll be me on my office day tomorrow then. Heated grips are wonderful inventions.

Second car was a bit like Datatek's - Reliant Regal 3/30. Heater had minimal output, especially at idle with lights on. Choose between demist(ish), wipers, indicators or sidelights. Any 2 and everything packed up!

Heated grips and handlebar muffs on mine but I'll stick with the heated seats and steering wheel :D

Makes you wonder how manufacturers got away with it, remember the vacuum operated wipers? If you put your foot down the slower they went.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Okay I give up. I have tried absolutely everything I can think of and that others can think of to get the lights in my dash to illuminate. Checked every wire fo continuity, replaced the indicator stalk and yes, I tried the switch for the dash on both the stalks. I've had the two connectors in the drivers kick panel removed and the wires all soldered together. The BECM has been sent away and repaired. I have tried another instrument cluster. Yes, all the bulbs are fine on both binnacles. Even tried with Hawkeye and all to no avail the dash will not light up as it should. I have no more money at all to spend on this now.
So, where does that leave me? In this state the car will not pass its MOT in early February. That's hoping that there are no other issues, that I am aware of that would stop it passing, aside from needing two front tyres. But I certainly am no expert so if there was I'm stuffed anyway.
Cheers to everyone who has tried to help me with this.

Eventually I had heated gloves.

I had battery powered ones like these about 15 years ago, good for about an hour so ok for my 20min commute to work.

Continuity and the ability to pass power are not always the same thing, probing with a test lamp is needed. If everything else on the dash works it's unlikely to be a bad earth, so it's the power feed that needs looking at. Remind me, is this a P38? If so I'll have a look at RAVE for likely failure points.
