One more plus point for diesel:p I had a news notification on my phone this morning about an article in the Telegraph only saw the headline which said keeping a diesel is better than buying an EV. Well we all know that when you take into account the pollution involved in the manufacture.:rolleyes:

Each switch has its own bulb.

Just for clarification, I wasn't suggesting I didn't know if each switch has its own bulb as I am aware they all do. I was stating that I wasn't sure if there was actually a bulb in there at all. As in someone had removed it when the dash was out a few years back and forgotten to reinstall it. It's something I've been meaning to check for a while now and I had the perfect opportunity to check and forgot.

Hi mate I may have wrong idea yes. However putting a link to a sale on here is technically advertising, and although I appreciate the sentiment the owners here may not. Can get messy when the adults get involved.
We are all enthusiasts that help each other fix our RRs, anything put up is usually subject to scrutiny/laughing and pointing before they get help.

I suspect it also depends on the mix of electrical generation the grid uses and the miles you do each year. For most people I am sure with low miles it is better to run an old diesel like ours using parts off eBay whenever possible. That's the problem with governments: they try to reduce everything to yes / no answers and that is almost never possible.

They do blow. I had a few spares but gave them away to someone on here.
 
Nothing done today on Otto as was having bits wrenched off / broken / allegedly improved by the chiropractor his morning. Maybe use tomorrows hopefully dry weather to get the middle steering link out for access to stuff.

I've been going to a chiropractor for years. Never 'quite' felt much difference after each session, but willing to believe in magic beans to ease the issues.
Started going to an osteopath during restrictions. What a difference. Hurts at the time, hurts afterwards , and have to do exercises between visits, but I feel the improvement.
I might visit the chirpractor now and then , from now on, but the osteopath is now on the monthly list.

That hadn't been working since these troubles began. So that's a little win. What happened to make it work; I have no idea. When the weather is at least sunny again we'll go out and stare at the car sternly. Maybe that's all it needs.

Years ago I had the loan of a z550 Kawasaki that had been slightly chopped about. It had the habit of occasionally popping the main fuse, for no apparent reason. After many investigations, with all wires appearing fine and everything OK in garage but then failing out on the road, it was traced to one wire which was slightly misrouted so the non standard seat would just pinch it momentarily over a bump pothole or unusually heavy or rearward seated rider. But of course with the seat, etc open in the garage the fault couldn't be replicated.

Maybe you have something which is just pinched / pulled loose / shorted / etc when everything is together but all checks out otherwise?

Really daft thought is, seeing as you obviously have getting the dash in and out down to a fine art, clip / solder in some wires to the right points, with tails down to a convenient but hidden niche, and keep a 9v battery for connecting direct across the light circuit on the dash? If only to get it past the MOT OK.

Should be able to hook in something like that for the IC. I have until Feb to sort it so thankfully plenty of time. But then, with these things "What next?" seems to be an oft mumbled phrase.
 
Today I mainly finished the welding on the n/s of the red Bastid. Was worse than first thought when I removed the sill finisher had to do the inner sill, the inner bottom of the wheel arch and a bit of the outer sill. At least seam sealer and underseal were adequate as it's all hidden by the finisher and wheel arch liner. No time for photos @Mark Piercy because it started to rain and I had to clear my tools away. This is one I took before work commenced. I blame the side steps and finishers collecting mud, sheep sh1t and moisture. The o/s may be the same so more photo opportunities:eek::D
