+1 Broke pretty sturdy clamp doing the last one
You've learnt that my eyesight not up to much today.Geez thanks. I haven't been called a youff for 3 decades now. I must wear it well
In Australia, for at least the last 30 years that I have been working with cars trying to fix them, they have only ever been called uni joints. Actually I have no idea what brands either. We just got the part we needed.
I learn something new here almost every day.
Always make a note and keep parts receipts, that's when I realized I'd not changed themThis is exactly why I keep a log (alright a sheet of lined A4) for each vehicle, date and mileage for everything, oil and filter changes, but also things like new UJ's fitted, rear drums adjusted etc etc. I can never remember when I have done something and to what, otherwise.

So, just a quick question. I am about to remove the carbs today. One to replace the rocker cover gasket and the other to fix the choke I screwed up. I have Allmakes gaskets, the workshop manual says I should use some kind of clue, Bostik 1775. Is it possible to fit the gaskets without the clue? If not, what's an alternative to the Bostik one mentioned in the manual?View attachment 242091
Hylomar blue, I used to use, enough to hold them in place.i used to get it in a spray can but it's gone expensive. So, just a quick question. I am about to remove the carbs today. Seen much worse! So, the choke disk was, quite embarrassing for an engineer to be unable to read a simple workshop manual, fitted 180 degrees in wrong direction. Anyway, right rocker cover is off. That's what it looks like underneath:View attachment 242099 View attachment 242100
Anything out of the ordinary? First time I see an engine from the inside.
It's only to hold it in place while you put it back on. A bit of grease will work if you're careful and don't knock itAnother thing. In case I don't get Hylomar, a first search turned up delivery on Friday, is that only yo hold the gasket in place? Or is providing some additional sealing?
just normal, sticky greaseLet's try some grease then... Copper grease or multiple purpose? I got both.
