Removed my door handle lock barrel...

Quite a simple process.

Bit like that water pump, wandering that is.:eek::D
It did wander its way down to the dented crank pulley, past the chipped and cracked electric viscous fan and rested its scored pulley head on the piping and crossmember.... The front of the car is coming off to get into the snapped bolts... A teardown and a half for three over tightened m6 bolts...
 
I didn't firebomb it. That's a start. I, with the help of the most beautiful spanner monkey (my wife), put the car in the air, ramps up back and stands at the front. Took the front wheels off and had a good look and with a pry bar pulled and poked everywhere to see if anything was loose. Nope, all was good. We did notice a lot of surface rust which we're going to have to address someday. We also changed the engine oil & filter. I showed her how for next time. Plus I greased up the prop shaft and then we took the car for a drive and those eery noises we were hearing last week have gone. So it seems we managed to catch that one before it went boom, f**k! Happy days. We still have a long list of things to do but as the song says ( I forget which song), what used to take me all day now takes three weeks. The joys of living with a disability. Oh well, onwards we go.
Next on the list is to find out why the instrument cluster lights aren't working. Oh, there is an air leak at the valve block for the two rear bags. So at some stage in the coming weeks I'll be taking that out and fix it. I thought I had solved it and I had......but, I needed to do something, which I forget what that was just now, so it is something I have done. Exciting times............................






Oh, one more thing. Does anyone near to Lanark have a Nanocom or such that I can use (them really) to clear the SRS airbag fault. I haven't done anything with the airbag for the fault to arise. Exciting...............
 
Started up this afternoon, put into gear and abs fault came up! I'd not even taken my foot of the brake!!
Plugged nanocom in and out wouldn't communicate :( cycle the engine and it came back online! But no error

Cluster lights: you've tried the dimmer switch?
 
If it's 99-02 then SRS will clear itself when the fault goes away
It's an 01. I can't think why it has happened either. I've not disconnected anything.
I also have the ABS fault. Replaced the left front that was supposedly the issue but it is still there. So today while the car was in the air with wheels off I had a look aroundit and just blew compressed air on it to clear any dirt etc away.

Yellow connector under the driver's seat has been known to cause issues. Beware any yellow ducting cables or connectors until battery disconnected and left for long enough for capacitors to discharge as per RAVE.

There's also one behind the drivers kick panel, to the right of the steering column. The bright yellow makes it obvious
