No compression test done yet. I did screw up the left carb already once, so my best guess would be to start there. And to recalibrate both carbs, now that the snorkel is off. Well, I'll do all that once the gaskets are there. I just hope it ain't anything serious... Thing is the MOT is due in July, latest August. And I have two weeks left to sort stuff out...

Ah well, think you answered your own question there.

As for dodgy compression. After that connect an airline to the adapter and listen for where the air is leaking from. Could be rings, inlet valves, outlet valves or even HG.

Think you're right though, start with what you've tinkered with. @Ratae might know about the carbs. It must be 30 years since I last played with one.

Other than what's in the manuals & a few suggestions from many years ago on other cars can't offer much help. Mine's an EFi.

Finally made it to the aircon man, he's changed his tune!!
Now just reckons i take the condenser pipes off and wash with degreaser, bolt everything back up and regas it.
He was shocked when he saw how much goes in! Reckoned it's double what you put in the average car!! Wants £120 for the gas

Got her loaded up for the weekend :D

Feck that, take it to Quicksh1t.
They won't do anything more though.
I was led to believe a clean system, with the right amount of clean oil is really important.
If nobody can be bovvered to do more than re-gas, do i need to do it myself? I really don't know what's involved in doing a flush/clean.
Must be someone on here who's worked on air?

After they vacuum test the system they (QF) add the required oil and gas,if it doesn't work they never charged, that was a while ago, check for their latest policy. And if you've left the plug off the Tri pressure switch oops.;):D

There's supposed to be a plug?

Does it need to be vacuum? Aren't the aircon connectors a schraeder type valve from the look of them? And they system operates under pressure. So if you can pump in say 60psi of air and it holds that for a day, why would it be more likely to leak on a vacuum test where you have 15psi of air trying to reach a system at zero? And a decent tyre pressure type gauge would allow you to check or at least get a decent idea if it is holding charge. It is all going to be vacced out buy the aircon tech anyway....
