i dont want to go very far at all, I'll be happy to just change the big end shells if thats what it turns out to be. I really dont want to lump the engine out, but if needs must etc
I carried out this proceedure years ago on one of my Granada 2.8 engines. Worked a treat and she ran perfectly for another 2 years until i sold her so its deffo worth a punt. I did mine one at a time too and marked the end cap with tippex to remind me i had done that one between tea breaks. LOL

The car has started sagging at the rear so I had a look could not see or hear any leak so I have isolated the rears from the block, I did not have any emergency valves so I made up my own, handy when you have kids with bikes and old inner tubes the valves are 6mm under the rubber,

I had one screw in valve that will do 8mm

Wire brushed and flooded all the nuts around the front turrets and shocks with plus gas ready for removal in a few days time.
I had decided a couple of months ago that I was going to change the shocks after noticing that the top bushes on both were starting to break up, but I have been a bit ill of late so haven't got round to it. When I got underneath to wire brush the bottom mounts, both shocks were as loose as feck, just hope the axle mount brackets arn't too warn or I will be into welding new holes, and I would rather not do that at the moment.:(:(:(

What did I do with my Range Rover today. Took it on the ferry and went to Bisley and shot 100 clays, well shot at 100 clays and hit about 70 of them.....she looked a treat in the car park next to 70 plate motors! Anyone else shoot clay?

What a day. Had a run round in the Rangie this morning then went shopping> Pulled into Tesco tried to wind up window, clank then dropped about 1/2 inch when got to the close position. Managed to wedge up:eek::eek:
Afternoon took MX5 for a run 30 miles round outskirts of Sheffield no trouble. Heading home came to a junction at on of Sheffield's busiest roads and needed to right turn. Eventually gap appears foot down halfway across. Nothing dead as a doornail. No hazards no nothing. For some reason + terminal chose that moment to come off. All tools in RR so once again bit of wedging needed to get home. What was happening today?:eek:

Guessing teeth gone on end of regulator. Common problem but normally preceded with grinding at the top of the movement before it goes completely. I guess someone could have already replaced it and used bolts rather than rivets and one has come undone.

If I hold the glass it winds up and down OK. it's as if a runner has come loose. As soon as weather picks up will investigate.

Went and collected my bargain set of 5 comet alloy wheels and excellent tyres this morning and then took them direct to the refurbishers for 100% refurb. Should have them back next Friday and most likely before my inbound P38 arrives. LOL. Wont be long now dealer said on phone the other night.

Developed a nice steering shudder under braking recently, very bad if I accelerate then immediately stomp on the brakes, the wheel shakes badly.
There is also a nice pulsation through the brake pedal when braking, oh what fun.

Oh and the weird bit if I brake very gently from say 70 it's fine until I reach around 35mph and she starts to shimmy and pulsate. grr!!!
