I'm looking for the air ducting that goes across the top of the engine. Mine has cloth tape wrapped around one end and it looks awful, seems to work OK though. Part number is PHS100110 I think. Rare as hen's teeth on ebay. Figured if I'm going to take all that off to do the plugs and leak pipes now would be the time to replace.
 
The end with the cam breather (pcv?) ?
Is usual the grommet needs sealing up I used hot glue gun.
Take tape off have a look underneath, if inside is okay it works, tatty outside can be cleaned up/sprayed orange black or whatever colour you want.
They are over £100 so worth bit of time/attention

There’s two cables attached to the interior handle. If one is too slack unclip it from the pull-handle (last photo above) grab it with a pliers and tension it gently. Should pop it open.
Did have similar issue few years ago, can’t for life of me remember how I got latch open from outside? Think @Dopey may have told me how

Remember once I had it out I stripped and cleaned it, greased, popped back in, set bonnet gaps and it’s been fine since. Think you replaced whole thing dopes?

Yeah, wasn't a cat in hell's chance I was gonna buy a new one. I'll have to take it off to do the plugs so will have a gander then.

£26 for six Beru plugs from GSF. Bargain.

I have no idea how I missed the 2nd photo earlier - very helpful. Tried it but without success, pulled a few inches of wire out but wouldn't release the bonnet. Luckily whilst wandering around the market earlier I had seen a pair of long grabby things and thought they might be exactly what was needed. They were, in the end I had to prise a gap between the bonnet and the slam panel - reach init the tiny gap with a 10mm spanner and remove the latch pin from the bonnet. If you ever want to spend a an hour getting really frustrated I can recommend this method! But it did work in the end. All I have to do now is repair the latch mechanism - the cable has come loose and I can't really see where the cable sheath is meant to anchor to in order for the cable itself to slide and release the mechanism? See photo - it looks as if there are two, or maybe even three nuts on the cable that perhaps should come loose and allow themselves to be tightened on either side of the groove in the latch casing? Is that right?

No, managed to pull it with pliers, and oil and grease it back to health
Thats now my approach. Removed it - then the round tube section that the whole latch pin goes through split into halves. Great. However, recently bought some 'Serious Glue' that is meant to work for everything - so glued it back together, leave it until tomorrow and see if it has done the trick.
 
I realise now you may mean you snapped the metal one on bonnet :eek:
It’s like a hook, if you get a wire around it through the middle of the grille at the top you can pull it towards youView attachment 215876

I think he means the cable has snapped at the bonnet catch end. It's s bastard to reach from underneath. The catch is in a line from about I inch in from the edge of the grill. If your arm is long and can get past the horn and a/c pipes you may stand a chance of feeling the release catch.if you don't mind breaking the grill it could be easier.I'll post photos tomorrow if you need them.

Just remembered that I've been looking at The "Bastid" which has the filter box removed so there's that to contend with as well.
