werent bob gonna do that with a v8?
Anyone read the 4x4 magazine best 4x4 of the year?Disco 4 won overall. All the jeeps rocked up in ATs or MTs, the landys all shod with road tires.CHeating yanks!
There is a D-Lander coming into my workshop next month. I worked on the original build and it's coming back for 'finishing off'.
Anyhow.....the D-Lander (IMHO) is certainly a head turner. Bit like a FL on steriods. There are a couple of FL bodies onto Disco chassis project on the go, but you have to remove a lot of floor from the FL shell to make it fit properly, not just (apparently) drop it onto the Disco body mounts!
It does seem a fairly good solution to the rotting Disco body if you only want a 3-dr. A K-series engined FL can be picked up for (a lot) under a £1000 if you get one with a completely expired engine. The bodywork does seem to have a hell of a lot less mud traps than a Disco.
I suggest that the 'nay-sayers' on here compare the rot in an R-reg FL shell to that in an R-reg Disco shell, even if both have been used as shopping trolleys.
Personally I think it is an interesting and pragmatic solution, just in this case, not executed very well
