poking update.
got sidetracked and ended up back on the Shipley job scratting round for a drum of cable for another job.
then...
stripped the rad and cooler off yours,
removed front grill (that bumpers a ####....)
removed timing cover,
timing ok.
emptied intercooler of oil.
head degreased, will drop off tomorrow if time allows, for a pressure test and a skim.
new timing belt to procure.
fell into the pub on the way home.

Well my job tonight is getting 40 ltrs of PETROL out of the wife's Disco TD5.
that'll fit in me oil burner..........

on a more serious note, pull the fuel pipe off the regulator, extend with a tube onto suitable receptacle, and put the pump into purge mode.
ignition on and while the initial purge cycle is going on, press the accelerator to the floor 5 times. extends purge cycle to aid bleeding.
