I run Insa Turbo Saharas - but any form of AT tyre will be fine for the trip. We generally avoid lanes which need any more than an AT

small update for yer.
would have been more but I deleted them instead of downloading them.
doh.

That sounds good to me, ill leave the cooper stt on then as the special tracks are too bloody noisy on the roads. Look forward to meeting you all, then hopefully i wont be the black sheep lol

Nice work as always
cheers.

all done for 5pm yesterday (Wednesday), taking it over to uncle zips, for him to bring me back, for him to then go home and sort his stuff for the coast to coast trip, and it (the disco) decided the epic wasn't quite over.

nice quiet single track road, no traffic, batting along quite nicely, I got the "momentary loss of power" under the accelerator.
(denholm to oxenhope, if anyone's interested)

raised an eyebrow, and carried on.

500 yards further on, did it again.

pulled into a pub carpark, in the middle of nowhere, full throttle gave me 1800rpm.

ballcocks, I've stabbed a fuel line when riveting the floor back in, I thought.

knowing it was all downhill to oxenhope I set off and limped it to the junction and turned right. by the time I got to the bottom of the hill, trying to park discretely required low first.
fortunately, we'd left the clear fuel line on the pump to filter and I could see the bubbles flying round.

so, dumped up a side road, crawling underneath, all the rear fuel lines were pulled out their brackets, no damage.

tank pickup. bugger.
no tools, apart from a penknife and a wheel brace, I managed to remove the carpet, underlay, inspection cover in the floor, and the lock ring on the tank.
yarking the pickup pipe off the sender unit, I dumped it straight in the tank.
bubbles gone.
phoned zipster, let him know what was going on, pressed on to hebden.

landed at zip towers 20 minutes later, robbed a jubilee clip of his camping fridge, reattached the fuel line and set off back to workshop with him.

got as far as hebden before issues started again.
ripped pipe back off and stuck it in tank, carried on to shop.

removed sender at shop, thoroughly inspected for cracks, (had issues previously, as the pickup had a hairline crack and was drawing air. this got swapped for the return which we extended to reach bottom of tank)

no problem found with pickup, so remade the connection on pipework to top. very snug fitting clear pipe now.
no bubbles.
quick test run, replaced all removed bits, and off home he went.

apologies to mandy, phil and joan who had been waiting at shop for other stuff!
cheers to dean who plied them with coffee.

I can still get the odd whiff of derv as I sit ere typing.
:tea:

Neil, will you be at the workshop later today/ this evening? I could do with popping over to drop the fuel pump off among other things? I'd like to have a shufty at the earthing (possibly) gremlin causing my handbrake/ low fluid light not to come on and discuss welding the back end. Storm requires an MOT on the 13th June.

Roughly 10.30am, although it could vary as we've a couple of lanes on route. If you PM me your mobile number i'll give you a call when we are approaching Pickering and would suggest meeting just out of town on the Whitby road where we won't be fighting to find a space to park a convoy .....
