I tend not to wave at D3/4s as they seem to be mostly office wallahs or yummy mummy types - sniffy bastards!

There are some miserable D1/2 owners round these parts mind - I wave at all and have only got a return on a handful of times.

SWMBO rips the **** - she gives it 'ooh look at you in yer landy forum' bollocks. Next time tha bitch is walkin'

Mostly miserable farmers round my way so not many responses, do get a wave every morning from a nice looking Series 3 going through Melksham/Shaw.

I'm not saying all farmers are miserable, just the majority round my way.

Keep the faith and keep waving

Just cos you don't get a wave back is no excuse, tiz their problem not yours ;)

Persistance pays off

I now get waves from a D3, P38 (with private plate) and an ewok local to me.

Must admit it is slightly annoying to get the blank look from some ignorant folk you have waved at.
So have adapted the forward right handed low wave.

Hardly lifting your right hand off the steering wheel, fully extend your index finger look pointedly and smile.

If reciprocated all is good

If not this wave then allows you
to extend your thumb into the classic ''Loser'' salute. Instantly gatifying and grin inducing :D

We went for a trundle in the Land Rover round a few east coast towns (Boston, Skegness, Grimsby etc.) a couple of days ago, and as it was a bank holiday weekend there were a few people about doing holiday things in Land Rovers. So we got waved at, and waved back. But there was one in particular that stood out. Somewhere near Mablethorpe we passed a green camouflage coloured one where both driver and passenger waved so vigorously and looked so pleased to see me I thought for a moment something was wrong. Could it be anyone off here?

I wave to all Defenders and Series and tend to always get a response from them and most d1/2s. But living near Salcombe by this time of year most newer models are for yacht towing duties only and certainly aren't fitted with a reverse gear or a driver capable of operating such a machine!

Just come back from France. Next to no rolling landys down by the hovel to wave at. We then spent a week up in Normandy where I got a really excited uk disco towing a pikey van giving it flashes and waves, a nod off a frenchy in a 110 and huge waves from his kids in back.

Most uk regged stuff old and new - nothing. Miserable sods.

Back in the uk. Convoyed with another D1 from Portsmouth upto cheiveley where we split for the M4 and it kept on towards oxford. no wave but it was on an S plate, oxford blue and driven by a guy with an impressive wizardy beard. Anyone here

Was in Cornwall week before last and had a totally unsolicited wave from a chap in a Freelander 1

We were in the Doris's Freelander 2 :)

Well done that man :D :D :D

Smile n wave anyway. Makes me laugh to see the look on their faces :D :D :D

The day I picked up my 110, was driving back, 5 year old daughter in tow, first 90 we passed waved, she was made up, I now get reprimanded if I don't wave with sufficient enthusiasm if she's with me!

I always wave at series and defenders and the modded disco, round where i live there are serveral clubs so most landy drivers know the score :)

My 5 year old loves to wave too, in fact she seems to spot other defenders before me.

Loves it also because she gets to sit in the front and be in charge of the CD player as well.

What should you do when you are without defender and you see them every time you leave the house?? I fear I may be arrested if I wave every time lol!
.......And in the last week I have seen some beauties :D

I quite often used to wave to other drivers when I had a Series 3, the wave was to try and stop someone for a lift after the heap of crap had broken down. Nowadays I leave the waving to the mrs, she has various techniques though 'the bird' is one of her favourites.
