I have just got a 51'Disco 2 after having a Shogun for 3 yrs. I was expecting more oomph from the Disco but it doesn't appear to as good.
After a quick search I want to ask should you be able to operate the wastegate mechanism by hand when the engine is off ?
I suspect the valve is stuck or only partially operating.
It is unmovable now but don't want to force owt that shouldn't be moving anyway.

Hi

It's easy enough to get the little circlip off the wastegate arm thingy and then you can test the acuator and lube if necessary. I had a little resistance in mine. I think you can put pliers on the rod and push it back and forth with the engine off.

I experimented with shortening the actuator rod. I shortened it a little, with half turn increments on the adjuster. It made a big difference to how the boost kicked in. I think I stopped at 1.5 turns in all. I did a pile of reading up on this on the web before making any changes, and can't really remember the 'ins and outs' of it now, but it definitely helped my car.

I have used a piece of dowel & it was stiff but after a quick squirt of oil it appears to move a bit more freely.
I have about an inch of travel, is this about right ?
If I rev the truck on the yard should I be able to see the actuator move ?
Sorry for the bonehead questions but I like to have a go before I go to a garage for a check.

Not sure how much it should move keith. With mine I removed the circlip and made sure it was able to move freely.

Not 100% sure but I think you may have to have the engine under load to to get the actuator to move. Maybe someone else can confirm this?
