So what happened to the freelander stuff? lol All those who are not here to chat about the topic go play in the traffic.

Agreed, I've asked Ratty to delete everything after page 6. I don't mind banter but jesus christ. The next time one of our resident trolls wants to pick a fight, feed him on someone elses fred.

Here's a few pics of my one-piece sump guard.

It's from a BMW but I was toying with the idea of modifying it to fit the Freelander

Very simple 4 bolt fitting.

Note the slight lip at the rear.

It's seen a lot of miles (and kilometres) on some amazing tracks has this one.

The drain-plug opening was more trouble than it was worth.

I could drain the sump with the guard on allright - but I had to regularly drop it to clear out the scooped up mud and debris.

Originally there was a 25mm thick closed-cell foam pad between the guard and the sump - I removed it to allow easier power washing out the trapped mud.

Is this the stye of guard you guys were thinking of making?

Singvogel.

Pretty much. So it fits the alloy frame nicely and can be bolted or welded as seen fit! Plus bolts under the subframe.

Yep, nice and simple :). I've got one or two evenings free so I'm going to finish off the light pod files if I can.

Hmm just sorting out the universal socket (top hat) design at the moment, if we're going to use these LED headlight bulbs what inner diamater do you think the sockets need to be? The smaller they are the more room I get to blend everything with the main shell.

Will LED lights give a good throw of light forward? I'd be looking for extremely bright with lots of 'distance' to the beam pattern.
