Speaking of which, they seems to have gone very quiet all of a sudden.

I was looking forward to a picture of the bird giving a full view of her twin expansion chambers, and her inlet and exhaust pipes.

Oh yes, and if we don't hear from you with PROOF of HUNDREDS of sales to happy LANDROVER customers, we will know you lot are a bunch of liars, therefore cheats, therefore deserving to be exposed as such.

If you were trying it on, let me tell you, you picked the wrong forum here for that.

Thursday evening .... 1st February .... two clear days and not a word from Vortex.

I think we are now bound to deduce from this that they are liars and cheats, they do not have "hundreds" of happy LandRover owning customers, and as they have failed to take up the "prove it" challenge, that consequently their products cannot stand up to scrutiny, and are therefore probably not worth buying.

We ought to devise some process for dealing with snake oil sellers and dishonest traders.

Come on Vortex, there are perhaps HUNDREDS of Land Rover owners on this forum just waiting to buy your product, if only you could provide definative proof...... :rolleyes:
 
Can I say something. The Vortex system don't make a blind bit of difference.
What the **** happened to swirl chambers?
 
I had a Vortex Torque Exhaust fitted to my Series 2a Land Rover and the difference was immediate and very, very impressive!! The book quoted top speed for my Landy is 67 mph at 4,000 rpm. With this unit plus overdrive I now get 75 mph at 3,000 rpm!! If that is not impressive I do not know what is? Also, the lowdown torque range has both increased and expanded higher up the rev’ range, almost a flat line for 600 rpm (1,200rpm – 1,800 rpm). I can not speak highly enough about this product and I do so from personal experience. My old (41 yrs) Landy now drives almost like a car, my need to change gear is greatly reduced, making driving so much easier and enjoyable.

This is the first time I have seen this topic and on reading some of the comments it seems no one has had any experience with this unit. I will be putting my S2a (2.286cc Diesel) onto a rolling road in the next couple of weeks and will scan and put the result it on here for you to see. I have no before data but I am sure Land Rover do.

Can you explain - an overdrive might reduce the gearing by about 10% - but you have stated that an overdrive and exhaust has altered the gearing from 16.75mph/1000 rpm to 25mph/1000 rpm - now if my maths is OK then thats a gearing reduction of circa 54%.
Will you please explain to me how an exhaust can alter the gear ratios in your gearbox by, what 43%?

if, as you say - the torque is flat between 1200 and 1800 rpm, do you have the rolling road figures and graphs to support this?

I have to point out that what you appear to be saying is a complete load of bollix:rolleyes:

where did i say reduce axle rotation?

Ok - so if i believe your figures for the Fairey overdrive (and I dont - 28% is a ridiculous reduction in gearing) that would mean the overdrive has altered the gearing from 16.75mph/1000 rpm to 21mph/1000 rpm - so has the exhaust given you the extra 4mph/1000?

It's called an underdrive & they're lots of use as it goes, fer rockcrawling an' the like. Sod all use on the road mind, but anyways, s'not the point of the thread!

I 'think' the point is slight disbelief that a zorst can make a 'significant' difference to an (especially non- performance) injun. Different gearing will, of course, but a zorst? Just doesn't sound likely!
 
I have just checked figures and, with 7:50R16 tyres (tyres will make a significant alteration to mph/1000rpm) the quoted figures are.....

standard gearing - 17.2mph/1000 rpm
Fairey-Superwinch overdrive - 21.74mph/1000 rpm

this, i make to be an increase of 26%.
Now if you are saying that the exhaust means you can, now, INCREASE your useable rpm due to better gas flow to gain a few more mph, that makes more sense. I think you have just shown that an overdrive is a much more effective way of gaining top speed or a reduction on mph/1000rpm.
