Thank feck for that, thought I was going daft (er)
@Gazbo Thanks for the heads up on the starter, one of those things that will no doubt bite me in the bum a few years down the line.
Learn summat every day on ere.
So
To update on what happened.
I got the starter out, what a pug of a job.
Bench tested it and it started smoking from out the back.
To be honest I was relieved to find the problem.
I had pushed the jeep to enqsure that the engine was turning freely. So not seizing up.
Took the starter to an old boy I know and he rebuilt it for me. €110 and a pot of jam.
I was delighted.
So I'll try get it fitted next week and hopefully get it starting off the key.
There is a continuous small water leak from the bottom hose. I've fitted new jubilee clips, quality Ines, but I can't get it to stop.
Any suggestions?
I pressure tested the Rad. All good. Found two blockages in the smaller pipes so I'd say the engine wasn't run with coolant due to a slow leak.
Has anyone repositioned the rad reservoir?
It's just that bit too low for me or would it make any difference?
Thanks for all the help. Especially about the starter.
I was trying to upload a video with no success.
Any advice there?
Illlet ye know how the recon starter works out.
Slan
