Could buy me fender for £5k never misses a beat starts on the button every time. Been tweaked with a 300tdi and had a total overhaul

i know this may sound daft...but how do you select the lo range ?

is it just the "low" button to the right of the dash by hazzards ?

im only familiar with the diff lock and hi lo range selector of the discovery, could do with a guide on it on these and how to fully test it ??

No idea on a manual, I'm afraid. The current owner should be able to show you though - or is should be in the owners manual which he'll probably have if it's as good as you say.

I imagine the dash will tell you when it's in lo range though.

To select low, just ensure manual gearbox is in neutral, handbrake on, and press the button. The light will flash for a few seconds and then 'low' will appear on the dash display.

Cheers

Jerry

yes the manual is there, i did ask, to be honest he said im not too sure ive never off roaded it, same as he wasnt sure about the cruise control

thanks jerry all understood, my mot tester mate and range rover owner, is picking me up after work to take me up there and give it a good look over and il be driving it home if he gives it the thumbs up :D quite excited

hes recently replaced the air suspension for springs on his classic, and knows a fair bit about these having had lots through his garage so im confident hel give it a good mechanical look over

If you get it dont forget the PICS !!!!!!!:D

stop double-guessing and GET IT BOUGHT!!!!!

If it's as you describe and everything about it & the seller feels "right" get it done.

Took me 2 years to find mine and like you, I bought private and everything just felt right. Apart from a washer level sensor and a blown bulb on the HEVAC not a single thing wrong with it (fixed them now anyway)

Might be worth just asking when the suspension airbags were last changed and they need looking at about every 5 years - cost about £120 for 2 + fitting

im all set , got the cash from the bank, insurance rings me back at 6pm just before they close to confirm ive bought it, £20 fee thats all to swap my disco policy over (happy with that), now just got to wait for my mate to get here after work

i did ask about the air bags but he wasnt sure and said he had no problems with it, il have a proper look through the history to find any evidence of that, but my mate recently replaced his for springs (mainly due to wanting to do more off road) and said hel give it all a good check over

hopefully il be a range rover in a few hours and aquired a nice 4x4 for a decent price just before winter kicks in

tick tick tick tock

Good Luck! Looks like you have found a good 'un.

I know people go on about replacing the air springs with coils but I would think twice about that - the car is incredibly comfortable on the air springs and getting new airsprings in with a life time warranty will cost just about the same as coils. And I do not think you compromise on off-road ability with air springs!

cheers mate, hes gonna be here soon ,im itching to go

well il cross any bridge when it came to it, but if like you say- il just keep the air springs, i love the air suspension and the cool factor that comes with it

ive bought it and shes sat outside :D

mate looked it over and said its lovely couldnt fault it, all the air bags have been replaced at some point he said all the air bags look new and really good, had a good look underneath and checked the engine over and said shes a goodun and a bargain

cruise control works :D superb on a 8 mile motorway stint having cruise control on, the sound system is superb too,a lovely smiley drive home and very happy with it,it looks the buisness !!!

il give it a good clean tomorrow and post some pics

appriciate the help and info posted

also- im not sure if its chipped or what chip etc,but on the right hand side of the engine up in the corner, its got some sort of programmable tuning box thing, have no idea what and he wasnt too sure himself, its dissconected at the moment and it was on there when he got it, any ideas ? il post pics tomorrow and have a look through the history to see if theres anything relating to it

I would try to resist connecting the power box if thats what it is and so prolong the life of your engine and gearbox. They are not that slow once they are warmed up.:welcome2:

ive got an e30 bmw 325i sport for speed  didnt buy the rangey for that, just to get from a to b in winter and comfort ,and preserve the bmw from salt and ice etc

would it just work if re connected ? spose i just out to investigate it somewhen and find out exactly what it is and does , i take it its not factory ?

but yes, i found it drives lovely as it is, feels more nippy and repsonsive than my discovery, and the manual i find it much better and enjoyable to drive with, is the bmw diesel engine in these better than the 300tdi engine? whats the differences ?

If it's a manual, you ought to be able to re-connect the power box if that's what it is, if it's auto it will eventually eat the gearbox:eek:
Very quick above 2500rpm with the power box, no adverse effect on fuel consumption unless you boot it all the time but the fuel consumption display will tell lies with the box connected:rolleyes:
