Haha.... the annoying thing is its going to turnout to be something so simple and hopefully inexpressive. On the plus side, you can say that at least the other parts are spot on. :D

Have you read my posts? Lol. I was running without a front prop. Still doing it. Replaced the buggered diff so front prop back on. Still there. Took off rear prop as tfr box is ####ed, still vibrates . It's definitely steering, I'm sure of it

That won't be helping but mind I said it was starting to show on the drive down to yours for the green laning? Before it was ever put in diff lock. The transfer box wont help but I think the vibration is totally unrelated

Well stuff me if it doesn't sound like the swivel preload needs adjusting. I was reading about it yesterday and it sounds almost identical to what I'm getting. Gonna try and get it done at lunchtime today and see if that will sort it out. I do seem to recall that anytime I've had the wheel and track rod off there's no way that its set at 6kg! Some shims shall be taking a holiday I think

i demand some of the glory! :D

Lol I actually had read that before I got your pm and really was looking out a spring balance when I messaged you back but ok I'll give you a wee gold star for helping me lol

Haha...

I've just replaced the UJs on the steering shaft, what a difference, what was a small amount of movement in the UJ replicated as a huge amount of play in the steering. I'm dead chuffed!! :D

Well I'll do the swivel preload (in the pouring rain :( ) and see if that fixes the vibration and shudder. If not I'll look at replacing steering ujs. If it's not them then last place to look is the box :s

Swivel preload on drivers side was fine. Bout 7kg but not bad. The passengers side is fecked, took about 14kg on that bugger so a swivel rebuild it looks like.

Didn't solve the problem though so back to it I guess. My mate who has worked with land rovers for nigh on 20 years said it definitely sounds like the tyres to him
