I've been offered two Discos for scrap value. One snapped it's chassis but was working before that and I'm not sure what happened to the other one. Not sure on years, models, engines etc just yet but based on weighing in prices what would I be looking at paying because that's all they want!

Cheers. Just need to look up diesel discos weights but i would guess at just over two tons so maybe £350 ish. Hopefully the plastics, lights, panels, seats etc etc will pay for them and I'll get the running gear, engines etc for my time and energy. I suppose I'll still get money for the bodies when they are weighted in after I've removed everything.

2000kgs each Disco, so about £180 each one.

standard disco 1 weight is 1950kg, so about 2 tonnes with all he crap they carry around with them.

go on get em, you know that i can help offset some of that cost for ya ;)

:D I've just answered your PM, didn't see this post first.

I am HOPING that I can get rid of enough bits of one (and chunks of the other) to pay for the rest of the other which will then become an off road project. I can't afford to spend much just at the moment so if I can sell the interiors of both, the doors/glass/lights/a set of wheels etc plus weigh in the worst one I can end up earning the rest of the bits for my time. I would like to get a 300TDi engine with discovery running gear R380 box etc down to a chassis. Cut off the bits I don't need and weld on a defender rear section and outriggers then build a series 3 body and defender electrics onto it..... I've got a friend of a friend that has a series that is dead in his yard.

:D

Just found another bit that the disco and defender share...... RADIATORS ! I can nick the radiator out of the best one too (mine is loosing some of it's outer cooling fin bits but doesn't leak at all).

So. Chassis (mainly), engine, gearbox, transfer box, axles, props, wheels, brakes, radiator, some of the electrical bits relays etc, starter, alternator, batteries.....

Anything else??

Air con ?????

6&7th seats ?????

If anyone needs some big disco bits I'll do an advert in the for sale section after I've been over and checked them out.

EDIT:

Just had confirmation that one is a 200TDi and one is a 300TDi - RESULT !!!!

Well I've got them both, just need to get them back to my mates barn, hose them down and see what I've got.
