I'm with the beast man on this one.
You want to stop the determined thieves you need to get serious. The more chance there is of the thieves being hurt the more likely it is they'll leave you alone.

The cops are nothing more than a clean-up crew and don't have magic wands to make your vehicle come back in one piece.
The government is skint, the cops are over-stretched are you going to lie down and take it like a dog or get up and show 'em your teeth?
There's more and more talk and doings of neighbourhood patrols (vigilantes in all but name)
So with the state-funded cops on the fringes people will start to police themselves, it's a natural thing and becoming more visible now.
Get your CCTV set-up and be ready to attack the thieves and think about ringing the cops afterwards.

Buzzland i agree, very very well said we should police our selves. Its funny cos every time i see a landy it always catches my eye, so if there is a stolen one in my area, and i know about it from lz forum, it aint gonna pass me in a hurry without being seen.

A friend of mine has an Ifor Williams trailer that he uses for transproting fabricated steel, it's been nicked a couple of times so he's built a tow hitch on a concrete pillar, fabricated a 3mm steel box and locked it on underneath the box and recessed, means they could only get it by using oxyacetelene torch....so they did, haven't been back since, he'd also fabricated it with enough room to "store" a small nonreusable camping gaz cannister, and placed a stick on flammable gas warning on the box. Guess they thought he was just tyring to scare them off....he heard the bang from his house which is almost half a mile from his workshop lol

A guy in shirebrook (just down the road from me) knocks them up too...
£70 he charges, although i got one from him for a mate and he only charged me £60 as i'd bought some bits off him before

Just spoken to me mate he reckons around the £60 mark as soon as they start marketing them Lock costs £30 apparently and they are powder coated as well but might be able to get a discount for a bulk order.

also worth a look is smart water, think it's about £35 for car for a year. benefit being that you can mark all the parts too.

I personally like the gas canister approach but live in a built up area so I couldn't do that and now i'm to spakked to be "pro active" so I would look at the tracker set up. Also think of the way the criminal justice system works these days and you as a "responsible citizen " will probably do time for stopping a thief from plying his trade.

TRACKER - Stolen Vehicle Recovery, Fleet Management and Traffic and Travel Services

Again it is costly but if it is an organised ring then it only needs one tracker to be used to maybe put a ring out of business. Again no conection to the company above.
