Help please!!!

I have just had to take the front prop shaft off my 300 tdi Disco in my work car park. Now I can't get the diff locked to move the car.

The selector lever is refusing to move over to the left to engage the diff lock.

Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreiciated

Many thanks in advance

you can use a screwy on the lever underneath at the tranny box, especiasly now with the prop off out of the way

It's dark outside now so would it be possible to get a slightly more detailed description before I get the torch and screw driver out please?! i.e Where exactly should I be looking to prod?

Cheers

Give the linkage a good soaking with WD40 or GT85 then work the lever back and forward a few dozen times.

I'm on the case

cheers gents

(if it doesn't work a very annoyed Mrs Squint will have to wake up Baby Squint and make a 60 mile round trip to come and get me)

There is a brute force non technical method to fix these.
1 open passenger door
2 place both hands around the diff lock lever
3 yank it towards yourself

It worked on mine.
But no responsibility for snapped levers etc.

Well there is another way put the gear in second let the clutch out slightly to engage and put it on low box and and locked it that way, It clunks but its the safest way of doing it in my opinion instead of brute force.

If you still want it on high low drive diff lock bring it down and do exactly the same ...

In the process of fixing it now. The damage done by the worn UJ was worse than first thought. I am awaiting a new coupling/flange thing that was worn and I didn't find out till I went to fit the new UJ.

As for the diff I got rough with it. The linkage was free enough but it was stuck fast where the acctuator comes out the lever box under the console. So all I done was big screwdriver big hammer and hit the bit of metal bar out of the hole in the transfer box lever and pushed it manually.

Does that make sense??

Cheers for all the help
