I wanna upgrade my brakes. The standard brakes on the Freelander are **** imo. Whoever thought about putting drums on the back was a bit of a numpty. Any suggestions as to what parts I should use?

What is wrong with the brakes? What is wrong with drums? Drums work very well and don't fade the same way that disks do - useful on a heavier vehicle. Disks are very good on lighter or faster cars but on Land Rover, even a lighter one like the freelander I'd prefer drums on the rear.

Try adapting your driving if you find the brakes don't stop you quickly enough, look further ahead and don't leave the braking to the last minute - will make your driving smoother and more economical. You mention in your comment on the freelander ride quality that you don't see the point of sporty 4x4's and that it is better to go 5-10mph slower - same for the brakes.

your brakes must be set up wrong, or have some major fault. On mine, (and others I have driven) they are more than up to the job.

by the sounds of it, there may be an issue with the way the rear shoes are adjusted (or maladjusted as it may be)

alternatively, take heed of BSA77
