Hi Qwakers, I have visited tyres direct and they seem to know what they're talking about, I would recommend talking to them if you want any sensible advice on tyres, I have General Grabber AT's and have found them good on the road and off ( but I have very very limited experience with off road)
I hope this helps

To be fair to the poor chap tyres are a constant dilemma. I have Wrangler AT's which work well on road, and as I found recently, pretty well off road at Hawkstone. Its just the MT's look so chunky. Lol. Aesthetics over practicality, or is it budget that speaks? If there were a simple answer there would be only one tyre.......Ideal world different sets, for different occasions......but unfortunately it's not. You can't blame him for asking...bless!!!!

so how can yu suggest the best tyre for him?

I wasn't. The point is he just has to make his own decision based on some of the points above. That's all!! You want to try choosing motorbike tyres...bloody hell!!

I find this forum really useful but find it quite sad at how unwelcoming it is to less frequent users from the more regular vocal posters.

Ive now owned Landy's for about four years and share a love hate relationship with them but I ant really see me owning anything else whilst my lifestyle is as it currently is. I'm a fabricator welder but know little about cars and so find forums like these incredibly useful for learning how to have a go at mods and maintenance. I never understand why a few gob****es feel the need to barrack people like me that simply want to learn.

I've been a member on here a while now so understand the frustration at the same tyre questions rearing their frequent heads but is there a need to stick the boot in to newer members simply seeking a welcome into our addictive world of Landrover ownership?

I see some terrible attempts at fabrication on here but would never criticise an individual for their poor ability. What does it gain? Other than to **** people off?

Aah right. So why doesn't some kind soul simply give folk a gentle prod to the rules instead of tearing them a new arsehole?

Good retort by the way.

Or thirty five and drives a defender and is just trying to be helpful.

Like I say, this is a cracking forum for Would-be Landy enthusiasts because it's a great resource of knowledge and expertise. It just baffles me that there's an inherant intolerable mood about the place for the non regular. Don't get me wrong, I know the banter of forums, I'm an admin on a football forum that I've used for about fifteen years and if folk wanna argue then that's upto them but its just football, there's nothing to be learned so it doesn't necessarily make the forum a poorer place. This gaff though is a different beast. There's plenty to be learnt and taught for newbies and experienced alike. Unfortunately though, for the enthusiastic newcomer that wants to get stuck into modding and learning about their landy, on far too many an occasion they pop up on here with the best of intentions, ask a basic question and get hounded off the site within days. What do you gain from this? Apart from an insular site full of the same select few ruling the roost to the detriment of fresh landy owners?

I'll await a barrage of ill thought out one line ****e, no doubt.

Well said Bede, I do think that some people are very thin skinned and easily offended but I also believe this site is a bit spoiled by keyboard bullies who get their kicks from virtual intimidation (probably because they where picked on as children).
It's worth ignoring the idiots to be able to learn from the good peopl who frequent this forum.
