Ermmm, i HATE to say this but i'm a girl.

I wouldnt know where to start on making a plate to fit my dash (metal, cutting metal eeeeek)

Can you buy ready made ones?

just take out the ash tray and fit a blanking plate. thats the usual place to fit a switch or two.
