H i everyone i have recently purchased a range rover autobiography on a 04 plate. Two days ago the front passenger door would not open from inside or outside it just locked. it has unlocked itself Know but when i press the remote all doors lock except this one. im also having a similar problem with the tailgate.Today i decided to try and put the car in the low suspension setting it went down but wont come back up again and is saying transfer box neutral the car will not drive when put into drive or reverse. Any ideas please

Transfer Neutral - in order to get into transfer neutral a fuse is placed in position 37 of the Fuse Box behind the glove box....have a look and ensure there is not fuse in position 37....if there is - Place Gearbox in Neutral, ingnition off, remove fuse, ignition to Position 2, Select a drive range using the Hi-Lo selector, select Park and ignition Off....

If there is no fuse in position 37 and you still have Transfer Neutral message - time to get it on a diagnostic to read the Transfer Box ECU fault codes...

Air Suspension - could be the air tank is empty.....run the car and leave a door open for 10-15 minutes, this freezes the Air Suspension from changing heights, but does allow the compressor to charge the tank without the system trying to empty it again....

After 15 minutes or so, get in and close all doors and tail gate, then select standard ride height, now there is a good charge of air in the tank, she should rise....

If you have a light in the centre of the selector switch illuminated, and a warning on the dash saying Air Susp. Inactive - there is a fault in the system...or if you have no lights at all on the EAS selector switch, this indicates a fault and the faults codes should be read on a diagnostic computer.

Door/Tail Gate Locks - Check the muliplugs that connect to the door from the door pillar and also the tail gate, they have been known to get water/moisture in them and corrode the pins.

Thanks for the reply Saint v8 i have left engine to run for15 minuites still air susspension not working. Have also checked for fuse 37 it is missing. I have been told by someone to take battery out and leave out for an hour so the car resets its electrickery does that make any sense to you. As you can tell i am not very mechanically minded

Did you leave a door open during that time?

The battery disconnection trick could work, before you disconnect the battery, open the boot and take the access panel off the left hand side where the sat nav computer is. Wait until the little red light goes out on the sat nav disc player. When it goes out you can then disconnect the battery - negative only - wait 20 mins then you can take the positive off.

Reason for this process is to allow the sat nav to reset or else you could scramble its little brain, and the positive lead has a pyrotechnic charge in it so wait 20mins to discharge the srs system for safety.

Once you reconnect the battery you will get a warning on the display about ABS & HDC and also Air Susp. Inactive - start car and turn the steering full lock left hold for a sec then full lock right hold for a sec then back to the middle to reset the steering angle sensor, this should then clear the initial warnings on the display.

With luck that may reset the EAS fault, if not time to get it on diagnostics, whereabouts in Sussex are you, there may be a member close by with an All Comms or other diagnostic reader who can help out.

Thanks again Saint v8 yes left a door open. i will try the battery a bit later fingers crossed it will work. i,ve also been told you can pump up susspension manually but cant find where i need to pump as i wonder weather the height will get rid off the flashing yellow lo triangular sign
oh and i live in crowborough east sussex.

No such manual pump exists on the Range Rover....

On the P38, you can plumb in manual inflation valves (called a MARS System) but I know of no such modification available for the L322.

With the All Comms Diagnostic system, you can recalibrate the ride heights and also manually open and close the air valves, but as for a manual inflation that doesn't exisit.

The Trianglular Lo Sign means the Transfer Box is in Low Range - it has nothing to do with the Height of the vehicle.

Your transfer box issue will be causing that....

ADDENDUM TO ABOVE:

Been reading about the Transfer Box - does the mountain symbol flash continuously??

If it does, that means the box s in Transfer Neutral....if there is no fuse in position 37 yet still shows up, diagnostics is needed to read any fault codes.

Thanks saint ls lt still worth trying the battery disconnection and yes the Lo yellowtriangle is flashing.
Thanks
Greg

Ok I'm a fool I have just checked fuse box again and fuse 37 is in . Reading your first post how do I select high range.

Thanks

who put a fuse in number 37 then ?

just press the low range button near the gear selector and put into neutral when it asks and then back into drive.

do the same to take it out of low range

Thankyou saint and hippo I have drive again yippy .will it be ok to drive it as it is so low.I will let engine run again for 10th minu.ites and try to raise the susspension.what a great forum this is

You can drive it, if it is on the bump stops, it will be a tad uncomfortable, if it is just at access, it will be a bit firm....

What lights are lit on the Ride Height Selector ???? or are they all extinguished??

Glad you have drive again - be interesting who put a fuse in number 37 and why?

Right now lets try and get your Rangie Back in the air again!!

I have air .I'm now considering weather I shoild attempt fixing passenger door.once again thankyou.

Greg

I don't know l drove it a few miles up the road stopped pushed the button and up she came the Mrs has told me I'm not to play with.that button anymore.

Top job, yep leave it alone the system will deal with what is necessary!

Glad you managed to get it sorted! We aint a bad bunch really!

Just reading this with great interest.
For what reason would a fuse have been put into 37?

Also I presume the drive charged the air tank' as saint said it would
.

Well a fuse can't just magically appear in the holder.

I did the same once, saw an empty slot and put the fuse in ! Then wet my pants when the car wouldn't go into gear. But soon relised the fuse was causing the problem.

Am I right in thinking you put the fuse in when you want to tow the vehicle ??

Yep...an also the Main Gearbox has to be in Neutral too.
