Good reasoning, those with 40's seem to have hydro-assist steering and custom axle tubes etc .. as well as deep pocketed sponsors!

Yep 40 stickies are £££££££

Usually spidertrax ££££ which are very very good but completely out of my league :(

Speaking to quite a few guys on the devon 4x4 forum, I said I was going to run the D2 axles with 40 treps and they all said that the internals wouldn't last very long at all. Hence, looks like I am going to be using Nissan Y61 axles. Strong as a built up d2 apparently and the rear has an electronic locker as standard....

I bought some nice D2 axles as well recently, anyone want some :p

Yep hence the 35's :)

I was working on a land cruser the other day and so compared the internals to my D2 ashcroft items,

The standard cucruser items are the same size or bigger than my ashcroft items which is pretty cool :)

BUT the swivels were corroded AND theyre welded on and so not replaceable, so yes theyre very stong axles but not infallable, that means if a swivel snaps uts a complete axle swap.... which is a bitch if its got hydro steer coilover mounts etc etc

If i'm going to put slitty stuff on it, at least it'll be a nissan! Shame they're not as cheap as a D2 axle lol

Im not sure what id use to be honest. Ifs is very tempting but very hard to get right and you Need coilovers which are £££

Don't think im going to break these D2 's to be fair :)

I ent going to be going IFS but I am going to run coil overs, Fox ones by the looks of it.

Fox are good and youve got milners for backup :)

Created a list today of stuff that needs sorting ....

Christ

Ordered the tyres and harness mounts should be here early next week :)

Does anyone know the offset of D2 commercial steel wheels ?

Bit more progress tonight. Exhaust is done, gearbox crossmember made, axle painted, and a few other bits looked at just going to buy the beadlocks and a lighg bar to get fitted this week :)

Ive gog to do a trip to paddocs for some wheels and some small bits needed to sort a few things out :)

progress

Harness mounts done tonight :)

Weld porn :D

Only issues were I had to trim the surround for the rear window so it didn't rub on the mount and there is a slight bend in the struts. As the design was obviously originally intended for perpendicular rear stays not ones that go directly to the chassis legs but its no real issue.

Other than that brilliant kit :)
