Day to swap these bad boys over :)

Luckily our next door neighbour has one of these :D

Which made it loads easier once we worked out how to use it :p and so tyres are now on :D

Just gotta sort the rear brake lines after sone lunch and shes done :D

Flex pics later :D

trememdous result that

like the wheels too!! :D

I quite likes them too :) ill probably keep 2 sets. These with a wider offset on the front for trialling and a set of 35's on beadlocks for challenges :)

Haha I said to dad. Well need to change the tyres over onto these rims .... "oohh norman has a tyre changer across the road" win :D

Right sorry for the lack of updates recemtly guys :)

Now its time for the front axle swap :)

First I had to rip the old axle off before dropping the new one on :)

Next get the new axle into position so I could set up the radius arms :)

Once I had measured out the position and checked the geometry against my D2 I tacked the tubes for the bolts under the chassis to hold the arms in place :)

Once that was done I gusseted the tubes and then started to build up the chassis boxes for the arms :)

#overkill :D

The passenger side was the easy one the drivers ide I had to work around the fuel tank and arc weld the upper top join to the chassis as the mig wouldnt fit in :( But all joins are welded inside and out so plenty of strength :)

So once the axke was all welded in it was internals time :D first the diff and then these beauties :D

A bit of a comparison old and new :p

They only Just fit :D

So then it was just build up the bearings, brakes and swap some more wheels over and shes done :D:D

I have fitted an adjustable panhard to sort out the width after the lift and probably need a D2 HD track bar as I dont feel theres enough threads left in the 90 one for the strength I want but apart from that it was actually easier than the rear to set up :)

Lockers are now all plummed into a GP air manimanifold to keep everything tidy, ive just got to source an air tank fir a reserve and some more screws for my rapto dash but she is now ready to play this weekend to see what shes made of :D

Just need 37's now :cool::cool:

Oh one thing you might be able to answer!
What the panard and front steering arms lengths like, are they the same as d1/fender?

Cheers

Top job btw!!!

Panhard is 90 but the bolt holes in the D2 axle are bigger so you have to bush the holes to fit 90 panhard.

Steering rod ive used 90 will see how it goes saturday :)

As far as im concerned its just the track rod that needs to be longer

Nice one mate .. need pit crew? Need a fair bit of notice, mind .. ;)

Thought you'd got some Trepadors sorted .. or do you mean another set, maybe 40" ????

Haha a helping hand is always appreciated ;)

No not yet im deliberating between 35's and 37's

37's would be better tyres but I would be massively over geared and puts alot more stress on everything

35's loose me 1 inch clearance but will fit better. Take less driving. Put less stress on and are £80 cheaper per tyre

Plus me having a 90 instead of the usual 100 inch means my break over angle is already better than most

Going to call jim in the morning and get them sorted anyway :)

Theres plenty of events at walters this year

Welsh xtrem
driven to the edge x 2
KOV and a few others :) would be good to see you there :)

Good reasoning, those with 40's seem to have hydro-assist steering and custom axle tubes etc .. as well as deep pocketed sponsors!
