Well folks....After 11 years ownership of my P38, 4.6 HSE, I have decided that the time has come to call it a day. I hardly use the old girl and am only doing just over 5000 a year max in her, the rest of the time she is sitting in a nice warm garage going nowhere. I shall therefore be putting her up for sale shortly together with my full multi vehicle P38 Faultmate system.
It's been a hard choice but sentimentality has to take second place to reality.
I will update when the deed is done.

It depends...If I am only offered 50 quid for a piece of kit that cost me in excess of 2 grand, then I would rather let it grow cobwebs and brush them off when someone is in the ****e.
Until I advise otherwise, I am still doing them.
I have built up what I hope is a fair reputation over the years and do not intend to disappear overnight (Like some I could mention) as I have always been above board with all my customers.

Sad day, it's not in the for sale section, but will forgive you for it, can I start the bidding at £60:p

Haven't even taken any pic's yet, only decided to bite the bullet tonight. I will post when it's "Official". I will probably put it on Egay and Auto Trader at the same time to cover all options.
Hopefully it will make more space in the garage as all the spares and service tools that I have knocked up over the years will go with her.

A sad day indeed, John. I hope you will find the time to frequent the site and help the rest of us unfortunate souls who still have our P38's and the troubles they will no doubt bring. I know I have only been a member for 18 months or so but people like yourself and Wammers and few others have provided me with the motivation to see jobs out and not just punt my Rangies.

By the way i do take note that you posted at five past eight on a Saturday evening which means you are full of Guinness and by Sunday morning you will have decided to keep her...:D

:welcome2: Hi John...:beer2::beer2: More to the point, a few brandies as well !!
It's been a sad day really, having come to a decision that I have been mulling over for a few weeks now.
The P38 has been one of the best cars I have ever owned, like many on here I have personally suffered the same heartaches as them but have not let them beat me..despite the financial costs. It will, I am sure take me wherever I want to go at the drop of a hat without problems. The hard fact is that I am running (Tax & Insurance mainly), the P38 plus the Wife's Vectra, V6 plus a Mitsubishi Colt and the financial cost of keeping three cars taxed, insured etc. when there are only two of us on a pension is ridiculous despite the sentimental aspects. Without the Colt, the other two are costing over £1000 a year before petrol is put in them.
In view of the condition of the P38 I would hate to let it just sit in storage, she deserves better than that !!:)

I own a RRC, not a P38, but I have always read your very helpful posts with interest.

I hope you will stick around in this forum, but good luck to you whatever you are doing.

Pete
