We have managed to get through the "lockdowns" without killing each other.... live in the middle of nowhere so no one can hear the screams!

COVID lockdown was business as usual for us. Wife is a Teacher and I have a Hospitality business.... happy to get away from people, hence living in the middle of nowhere! Can make as much noise and mess as we like without complaints from the neighbours. Bit like Darling buds of May without the livestock.

She has her uses, anyho I could buy loads of spares for my L322 for the cost of slabs and my DIY is bad enough at the best of times! Laid a patio over an old Victorian bottle well when we bought the house, didn't have a use for it then, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Still have a capped well in the garden so all is not lost! Bugger, will have to keep her safe now just in case the feds read our messages?
 
Soooo.... tested the engine bay fuse for OBD2, ECU and no power getting to the fuses? However, each time I removed and replaced the OBD2 fuse my Icarsoft tool would boot up in the car but still shows a linking error? There seems an absence of power getting to the priority fuses in the engine bay and no command feed to the fuel pump relay... it has 12v and can be jumped.... in-tank pump is working OK but still no glowplugs light or orange engine management light? Datatek is very kindly posting out a workshop DVD with wiring diagrams. I have disconnected and cleaned the circular engine bay wiring loom connection. It looked nice and clean, however the white multiblock which sits in the driver's footwell was looking corroded.... cleaned it up but not sure if it has any significance to "non start" issue or it just supplies ancillaries such as lights etc..?

Sounds like your fuse box maybe toast, any smell of burning?

No smell or signs of burning from the fuse box, I did buy a replacement and swop it over. Need to move the old girl soon as I need the space to start breaking the L322 down for it's surgery.

My maxi fuse is fine and has power. I will use the spare engine compartment fuse box to do some continuity testing to work out what goes where. Should be able to then trace the "message wiring" and OBD2 wiring... it's strange that the OBD port is getting some power but it doesn't show power at the fuse?
 
Maxi is fine, going to have a crawl under the car when it stops raining... not expecting to find any wiring as it seems to run either straight into the bulkhead or a long the top past the injectors etc.. Had similar issue on a Shogun... rodents had chewed through wiring down the side of the engine.

The brown wire that powers the obd port runs from the yellow plug on the bottom of the engine fuse box to the round connector under the expansion tank, check that for corrosion or loose connection.
 
Soooo... carried out residence testing on spare fuse box and had mixed success so decided to split box open and found a very burnt capacitor! Next job will be to repair once I find the capacitor size. I could get another fuse box but it is always a gamble with second hand parts. Not sure if this is the cause of my problems or one more for the list?

Capacitor? I don't remember any capacitors, only diodes but my memory is not what was.

Your right... diodes. Pulled the box a part from the car and that looks fine, was hoping to find similar damage. With the box out I will do some continuity testing on the loom to BECM tomorrow.

Look for cracked solder joints, may need a magnifying glass.
