As far as I'm concerned, up to 3 Litres, 4 cylinders is more than enough to do the job, up to 4.5 litres 6 cylinders is enough and no road vehicle needs more than 4.5 litres IMO. Eight cylinders in a V is just over complication and a 4.0 or 4.6 is two cylinders too many, hard to work around in many cases too. It is also in the Range Rover an unreliable piece of crap.Respectfully, I'd expect more from a member of such standing. As car enthusiasts (as we all are), enjoying the qualities of a great sounding engine are surely something we can all appreciate.
W may disagree about what virtues are important in Range Rovers, but to class all V8s as being equivalent to socks down underpants is patently ridiculous and something I'd half expect to see written by some ill informed Greenpeace oddball than someone with such engineering knowledge and vehicle experience.
A V8 is all about image, why anyone would buy a gas guzzling unreliable V8 powered P38 is beyond me.
