In defence of "some" of the cheaper machines my AC/DC 160A TIG from RTECH (It think they are RTECH badged Everlast's actually) has all of those features and was only £749 (75% of the £1k milestone).
It does a good job for me and the after sales service is superb.

Had it set at 40 amps, could do with it a bit cooler, only making an exhaust pipe anyway so as long as it don't break I'm not worried what it looks like

Nice, just looked with foot pedal and vat its 27 quid over my 1k budget, damn!

Recently upgraded my old Clarke 151EN to a euro torch conversion few weeks back... And what a difference it makes! Can still use it for gas welding and gasless.
Due to windy conditions on the dirve I recently repaired my GF's discovery rear chassis leg, using flux core. And the results where miles better with the new torch. Done alot of flux core over the years with this old welder and this upgrade has made it.. Easier to use... Smoother flow of the wire.. Better welds all round.
Im just a DIY welder so I know they arnt the prettiest but cleaned up well and solid as a rock which is all I care about.

Them parker torches seem pretty good, recently done many yards of welding at approx 180/200 amps and the torch held up well, only used one tip.

I bought a mig inverter (second hand) but you need to use the machine before purchase. Aim for 400 QUID for a good one. Covers anything from. 0.8 to 8mm
Gas less wire forget it.
To much spatter and poor penetrative.
Most colleges will welcome you for a few weeks training without certification.
I was lucky to have it paid for on my YTS many years ago. 29.50 a week !,,
But it has been a Huge benefit

3m's Speedglas G5-02

it's got bluetooth
in bits?
also has the newer electronics so 3m's 'Natural Colour Technology'
the lens is curved for a narrower headshield (always usefull in tight spaces).
ald it's a suprising step up from my previous Speedglas 9100 headshield / 9100xx filter lens (& they are very good!) and compared to the ESAB headshield that work supplied it's amazing
would I buy another? YES. although I'd look @ not at the full price but then I paid `half' price as a secondhand unit...
now I've one less excuse for my welds on the car

My workplace supplied us with the esab ones, now they have supplied me with an air fed optrel crystal 2.0. Have to say its quite nice being able to see what your doing and breathing clean air. Not cheap at over £1000 for the whole kit

They are good, the one I use is like looking through clear glass when your not welding, when you are welding its probably the same as yours with the natural light (blue as opposed to the green colour)

I will try to find a link for the one I use, the filters are not cheap for the air feed. Battery lasts about 18 hours apparently although I just keep it charged up every night. I only wear it when I'm doing lots of welding in one go, if I'm tacking up or doing a quick job I will use the normal esab mask

Here you go, this is what I use. Main filter is about £30 - £40 and the pre filter is about 80p each. This is what my boss pays, so might pay more or less online. The pre filter does clog up quick if you do alot of welding, supposed to change it daily, main filter probably will last up to 2 weeks (depending on how long you are welding for).
